Ten best full backs of the NRL era

but isn't the argument against guys like Wesser, Hodgson etc casue they didn't do it over their whole careers? why is Mini allowed a pass for 3 years at the top?

Well I’d say an injury that should’ve ended his career outright would be one reason, but my personal argument against some of those other guys wouldn’t be on longevity, it would be on talent.

Are you sure you are not Valheru? You both say the same shit. This is not talking the Roosters down. This is how they maintain their success, by getting rid of players before they become complete plodders, particularly those who have been brought in mid-career as marquee signings. It is common knowledge on this forum that I consider Tedesco to be grossly overrated and overpaid and thus he is a prime candidate for the finger somewhere down the track.

You’d think a club with a whopping two premierships in over fifty years of competing might give it a whirl.

How did that opinion hold up in 2018?

Did you watch Origin? His performance in Game I is up there with the best individual efforts in Origin ever.

And how about his season at the Roosters once he settle in? Capping it off with an amazing finals series.

And to top it off he won the Jack Gibson Medal as Roosters Player of the Year.

Overpaid you say? Tick! I mean what a horrible return we got for the investment.

Overrated you say? Tick! His Origin series and Premiership prove that. Not to mention him proving to be a big game player.

The Frog in absolute ruins after the 2018? TICK! TICK! TICK!

Don't forget Tedesco also won the NSW player of the year and should've been man of the series. He also came up with a wonderful try saver on Ponga with the game on the line which could've been the difference between victory and defeat.

Wish we had overpaid for such an overrated player.

Dud team? The Raiders came 4th that year with a 16-8 record. So by your logic he must've single handedly carried them to that result, which would be even more impressive.
Maybe he did - go back and look at the Raiders squad that year. Lolesi, O'Hara, Monaghan, Davico, BYC. Obviously the only bloke the voters had heard of was Schifcofske from his time at Parra.

Tbf, Raiders had a pretty good 2003 - started strong before fading badly. Was this the start of the Faiders moniker?

I think this list should be for the classic career fullbacks who were consistent guns for a long time, in which case there is a clear 1 and 2

1. Slater
2. Stewart

Pretty big drop after that with probably Bowen next and the only one I can think worthy of the bronze.

Slater & Lockyer are easily 1&2 in the NRL era for me. I would put Mini at his peak over Stewart but Stewart probably had a better career.

People are forgetting Hayne as well. Hayne at his best is as good as any player ever, unpopular but true. His 2009 season is probably the best I've witnessed. Name another fullback who practically single handedly got their team to a grand final?

Anyways for those who are under 30, complete morons or have too much rooster jizz in their eyes here’s NSWs most capped (and best) fullback and one that belongs on every list in this thread

Not even using lube on everyone’s number 2:

Just destroying the best defensive side of the modern whilst surrounded by a bunch of park footballers:

None of the other lesbians mentioned could do this

Manly won the comp in 2008. Brett Stewart had back to back knee reconstructions in 2009 and 2010. Manly won the comp in 2011. That suggests the impact Brett had on the team.

Ha
Yeah because of bloody slater
Probably the greatest fullback of all time.

At least Benny won the only game that matters.

Slater missed like 8 Origina due to injury whilst Barba was running around. Even Darius got a gig ahead of him

He could of at least got a bench spot, you know like the bench spot he had at club level while Michael gordon kept him out of first grade

Well Darius was a proven SOO player.
Maybe the old pick and stick theory.

Lots of blokes could’ve been picked but weren’t.
Besides in NRL club games Barba has two seasons of pure genius.
Both better than any of Brasheers seasons.
Slater had about ten better ones than both of them put together.

Nah, I think it started in the 80's but didn't get much use.

He did have Wiki & Croker in the side, plus other Parra bloke like Drew & the plodder Hindmarsh. They were a good side and in with a chance until this:
