Hannant needs to start over Webb that's for sure. By the time he was injected the forwards battle was all but loss. RABK illustrated this perfectly in the Archer thread. Hopefully Price is back and we can have him on deck.

I was incredibly harsh on Slater during the game and while he didn't have the best game, considering Wallace's sublime kicking game he played the best he could. To give the Blues credit, Wallace's kicking game was top notch and every kick he produced had some purpose. Whether it threaten for a 40/20 or threaten the Maroons line he was superb.

IMO the blame falls on Meninga, he should've shifted Slater/Hunt/Inglis around and kept the Blues guessing. Hopefully Meninga learns from this and goes back to that.

In saying, while Slater hardly justified his hype by no means did he have a bad game. The Blues were just far too good and the Maroons forward pack was just far too soft.

Great post, BP.

The witches hat, at least it would be able to trip the nsw players over.

Fair dinkum Slater was horrid, missed tackles, bombed tries, hopeless returns. Prince to 5/8, hunt to Fullback thanks and Tate can get stuffed as well.
it's not Slater's fault NSW listened to their coach a little too well when he was telling them how to shut him down and he was selected for a good reason he's been in inform fullback this year.

you forgot to mention the main problem, Lockyer was out injured

Maroons missed his steadying influence

of course they were kicking it to slater by accident. no kicker kicks it directly to the fullback on purpose.

Well, except for last night when their game plan was to smash him everytime he got the ball. Worked to a treat.

i also blame the selectors who seem to have come to the insane idea that cutie is a playmaker .last night he was as creative as a statue.
How they could possibly leave Prince out is one of the jokes of the yr .
I would make 4 changes for the next game
3 selectors & cutie
defensively he was good but we need a creative 5/8. If we needed a defensive no6 give dallas johnson the no6.

Anyone who thinks Meninga is coach is kidding.... Henry is the puppet master, watching the box last nite Big mal was looking for Henry to tell him waht to do.

PLease, Morons, pick your beloved Hunt for next Origin. It would then complete the most overrated backline in rep football history.

I can't believe the "Hunt tried hard" sh*t. Hunt was PATHETIC! He was pick at pivot. All he did was Carl Webb's job. Webb would be a better pivot than cutie. Come to think of it, so would a concrete fence post.

then why did Cam Smith win the golden boot?
2006 =/= 2007. There is no way that Cam Smith is better than Prince, on current form.

We might also add that the Golden Boot award is a subjective measure of quality - like any other 'best player' award.

Can you Slater doubters admit you were wrong now? I thought he was one of the best players in the series.
