A mate of mine just paid $2.8 million dollars for a federation style house on a big block in Haberfield. Haberfield is nice but that to me seems excessive. Surely there are better areas in Sydney for the money. Thoughts?

What part of Sydney is Haberfield?

Yeh, Dural, Kenthurst, Arcadia, Galston Glenorie etc....
Beautiful areas and 2.8 million will get you a mansion on 5 acres with a pool and stacks of bedrooms and bathrooms.

I just sold a place I had in Haberfield for the same amount. It was also a federation style on a big block also. I had to get rid of it, full of termites.

lol.

near liechardt

2.8m is alot .... I guess there is light rail nearby now - access to the city

I went to Five Dock recently - hadn't been there for a while and had thought it was old n crappy - but when I went recently I thought it was kinda nice area

Depends what you like I guess .... I'd rather pay that sort of money to live closer to the coast .... some people like to live out in the sticks (aka Dural - lol) .... but if you like the inner west - cafes, close'ish to city without being in it, then maybe haberfield is ok

It would have been a big house on 600m2 plus. $2.8m is about right for a house in a conservation area, cafe culture + amazing Italian trats, delis and cake shops , located at the end of the city west link (so you're 5 mins from town, 15 mins from eastern suburbs, 15 mins from Nth Sydney). Also you have light rail station called Hawthorne which takes you into the City and soon to the SCG, Randwick + UNSW.. Good schools etc etc etc It has everything that a lot of suburbs wish they had TBH.

It's on 1000 square metres. Sydney is f**king crazy.

Agree with all this. Great area. Prices have skyrocketed with the light rail out to the inner west.

Not aimed at anyone specifically here, but I reckon there are more "wanna be" Angels fans today, than actual fans, because they think it's cool.

what makes an actual fan?

Ive bought all their vinyl records before cds were even heard of. Have all their studio alblums, plus a couple of the compilations. Hell I even have Docs solo stuff.

Been to over 30 gigs of theirs over the years, plus will be going to the one at Penrith in a couple of months. There were times Id go see them 3-4 times in a year

Nup, it's not enough.

I understand how the death of a musician can make wannabe fans though. I never liked ACDC until they died. Now I think their music is pretty cool.
