My daughter lives in West Pennant Hills, seems to be 20/25 minutes from City and beaches, great environment! Catches an express bus into the City for dinners, functions and often back home- very convenient

Great location, but possibly being 25 minutes from the beaches could too far for Avenger, but since coming back from living and working in London, absolutely loves the area.

WPH is a nice part of the word, I grew up around there. I in fact learned to swim at Sun Valley when it was surrounded by horse paddocks.

I call bullshit on 25 mins to the beach though. Maybe at 3.00am.

Moved to Sydney from WA in 1979, lived in Whitfords first , then Bullcreek, my relos now live in areas that I have never heard of

Glad I am not there any more, went back about 7 years ago, too insular and too far - nice place to bring up kids until they need to get a job

Nothing wrong with West Pennant Hills. Nothing wrong with Lilli Pilli where I am now either but life is a journey and you only get to do it once and my wife, kids and I need a change.

So the Seahawks win the Super Bowl and that fan who got the tattoo on his arm prior to the season is now a legend.

You can buy my house and I'll move down to Berry and buy a few cows.

25mins to the city is about right, don't know about the beach though, especially if you are taking public transport.

For all the whining and lobbying for the North-west rail (which the wider community sorely needs), if you are able to catch the M2 bus into the city from Carlingford/WPH, you'd never even consider the train (if and when it ever is built). Very under-rated is the Hillsbus service.

Being a born and bred westie I don't swim often but I walk from dee why to long reef and back every evening.
At long reef and dee why points are the surfers. In the middle near the lagoon outlet and the poles are the fishermen. The areas in between are used by swimmers and surfers without the ability to be at the points.
It's a great spot.

Not a swimmer, but a keen fisherman. Killed many hours fishing long reef. Very relaxing part of the world.

Being an "older " member of this elite group of posters, did the downsizing thing 10 years ago when the kids finally moved out.

Sold a 5 bedroom, 3 bathroom house on big block and paid slightly more for a smaller, more modern house in a better suburb. Way to go, Avenger, worked in terms of increase in price and a better overall environment

Thanks Delboy. The downsizing for me is inevitable. Just rather do it sooner rather than later. Problem is where my wife and I like is overpriced as is most of Sydney.

You blokes just worked this out?:)

....and less of your money is tied up in the physically depreciating asset (the building).

Good choice Avenger.
