I'm guessing that alot of people on this forum actually know each other in person and possibly know their real name, so I'm thinking that there would still be defamation issues involved, although more complex

Sure, but in most cases the impact of any defamation would be limited to the few people who know identity of the defamed. Cases that would clearly be actionable are one where a poster's true identity is well known (and with no real attempt to obscure it) and that person, say, runs for the Board. Others make posts saying that X was caught doing Y. Absolutely a potential defamation case. But insulting someone in front of 5 or 6 of their mates is less likely to get a run (it's no different than doing it at the pub).

Gotta say that the tweet about the teacher was certainly a lie (it was suggested that the teacher was the cause of the father's sacking at the school), but in the scheme of things, the kid has nothing on what merkins like Alan Jones say everyday (for example; that Julia Gillard's father died of shame because of his daughter's lies).

No mate she is a 2yr old filly by Zabeel, had her first training prep and they have sent her out to the paddock for an 8 week spell. Hope to target her in the 3yr old fillies staying races in the spring and autumn.
