Hey guys are there any half trendy areas here on the Gold Coast?

Need a response soon. My wife is giving it to me for taking her away from Byron.

I though Broadbeach was Ok when I was up there last.

I heard the bikies have moved into Broadbeach however ?

Leederville had the best pub for live bands, so did the White Sands at scarborough, where I used to live

As opposed to living somewhere you hate because you hope the price will double in ten years?

Stupid comment. You're suggesting that you can only make money in areas that are undesirable to live in ?

That's precisely why these areas make money - because people want to live there !

Hey Pou, do you go to Leederville much? I used to love the coffee there when I lived in Perth. Epic Espresso in West Perth was also great.

Mate I didn't get rich by paying other people to make my coffee for me. I buy whatever instant coffee is on special and mix it with hot water from my kitchen.

My wife's a cafe snob though. Her and her mates drag their brats around between Swanbourne and Freo. Or they used to anyway. We just moved back to Melbourne.

I'm suggesting that most people can only afford to buy in areas that are undesirable to live in.

Do they want to live there or is that the only place they can afford? Either way it's irrelevant. I lived in enough Sydney shitholes as a kid that I refuse to go back for even ten years. I'm not putting my own family through that. If other people desire to live there good on them. I'm sure they're better places than where most of them came from. But I've lived somewhere better so for me those suburbs are undesirable places to live.

And I'm not saying that Parramatta (for example) is an objectively bad place - it's a lot better than it was when I was a boy. But I'm spoiled by my 15 minute drive to work. Last time I lived in Sydney I was in Concord and some days it took me an hour to get home from work.

Well millions DO live in nice areas of Sydney and they can afford it as well.

I am sorry that your memory of Sydney is poor.

Affording to rent isn't the same as affording to buy. I always rent in places I wouldn't want to pay a mortgage on. Life's too short to spend ten years somewhere shit just to make a profit.

I am sorry that your memory of Sydney is poor.

My memory of Sydney was great when I left in 2005. It's an awesome place for a young cashed up bogan to chase skirt and piss his money up against a wall. It was when I came back that Sydney became synonymous with crowds, high cost of living and gridlocked traffic 12+ hours a day, eight days a week.

Why aren't you enjoying it? I might head up Byron soon, maybe we can grab a beer?

Coolangatta is the closest you will get the Byron.

Surfers is like a concrete jungle now, its basically a city.

Well I live in Penrith, I guess most people would think what a horrible place to live.
I work all over Sydney, Some suburbs are more desirable.Sure you get your mix of deroes-boguns meatheads and rough nuts but than you also get a lot of normal nice people like me.
Good family and friends is what makes you happy not where you live.
