Potential scenario:

Eagles, Niners and Detroit win this week, that would give the lions the tie breaker in the 2 seed and would lock up the nfc east as the eagles would be 2 games up on Dallas with 1 to play

detroit finish with the Vikings and are unlikely to lose that. If this occurs the eagles are basically locked into the 3 seed
At which point I wonder if they’d rest key starters against the giants in the final week and avoid that horrible MetLife turf

or do they play it out hoping the Vikings and/or Rams can pull an upset off with the #1 still theoretically in play?
You gotta play to win in that scenario IMO.

Decent chance that at least one of rams and Vikings win. They will both be desperate potentially playing for a playoff spot.

I'm with you on your earlier post going all in on the 2 seed by hoping Dallas win this week and relying on us to take care of business. If the 1 seed falls on our lap on the way then all the better. If Dallas win and we slip up in one of the final 2 well then we ain't going far in the playoffs anyways and at this point I'm not sure there is much difference between 3 and 5 seed in the NFC this year. 3 will play rams/Seahawks at home and 5 will play TB/ATL/NO away. 3 has the tougher opponent just at home and either way the 3 and 5 seeds are extremely likely to be on the road in the divisional round.

Dem Boyz hold one which clarifies things going forward now.

We are in a somewhat strange position that as far as the division goes tomorrow's game is absolutely meaningless. We only need to win against NYG to win the division. Assuming cowboys beat Washington, if we lose to cardinals but beat giants we win tiebreaker on common opponents. If we beat cardinals but lose to giants we lose division based on division record. Of course if we win both none of that matters.

As far as 2 seed goes, if we finish equal with Detroit it gets messy but I think it goes to SOV and we have them covered. 1 seed we need to win our and hope 9ers lose a game.

Well it doesn't matter where we finish because this team is done for the season, in fact the 5 seed might be our best chance of progressing past the wild card round at this rate.

21-6 at halftime and the defence can't make a single stop in the 2nd half and went for 29 points on 4 drives. We can't stop anyone when it matters.

Depressing

Eagles seemed to have broke half way through season. 9ers secure top seed & have bye but also next week to rest their many stars..

I miscalculated tiebreaker too, that game did matter for the division as Dallas are now ahead on conference record as we are both 4-4 on common opponents outside the division.

We now need Dallas to lose to win the division. 5 seed it is.

This has been one of the most frustrating season of fandom i've endured
And i've seen a lot of shitty Eagles and Raiders seasons.

For a team to be this talented and perform so poorly consistently is confounding. Deeply unserious team and at this stage id be surprised if they win a play off game. Deeply unserious football team

The defensive stats in the 2nd half are as bad as you will ever see. They got torched for 4 TDs on drives of 75, 77, 77 and 70 yards so it's not as if they had a short field. In those 4 drives we forced two, yep a whole two 3rd downs.

Feels like big changes are needed and coming.

DC and OC both probably need to change... Sirianni will very likely hold his job but that seat is going to get real hot next year if this sort of play continues. Offensively the lack of answers on zero blitz is an indictment on Sirianni and the offensive scheme. The lack of consistency drive to drive is another indictment...
The play calling is terribly uncreative... 1st and 20 they run QB draw x 2 and then a screen to gainwell in a gotta have it situation... what are we doing?!

Defensively its a burn it down scenario. There is front 4 talent and some nice young pieces in the secondary but they need to find solutions at LB, safety and they need a play caller. The current defensive staff and personnel has proven itself to be woefully inadaquate.

Yeah it's hard to blame the offense when they score 31, that should be enough but that drive for a FG was a compete mess. They passed at the start when they should have ran to kill some clock and then ran when they should have passed after the penalty. The coaching staff need to recognize what they got with this defence and it was 4th down territory IMO.

Our first rounder really needs to be a safety or LB.

Hurts is overrated
Disagree

He has never been considered elite in the same mould as mahomes, Allen, Herbert etc.

His strength is his legs and the play calling needs to be better for him. The bloke has still led 4 4th quarter comebacks this season.

We have lost 4 of the last 5 and only once (Seattle) has the offense let the team down.

Hurts is overrated

Depends... if you're rating him as a top 2-3 QB then yeah, he's not Mahomes, Burrow, Allen.

If you're rating him as a top 5-10 then Nah... go and watch last years SB, Mahomes won the game but Hurts out played Mahomes. He can be a very successful QB in this league. He can win a SB... but he needs an offensive system and play caller who are additive

This year Hurts is leading the league in completion % above expectation (or he was last week)... and he's got Davonta Smith and AJ Brown and Dallas Goedert... these guys are elite players and Hurts is having to make money throws down after down after down. The offensive system does not give this offence the easy buttons others do.

Look at how Dallas use CD Lamb, Miami Hill, Vikings JJ, Rams Puka/Kupp... they move them around, they scheme up match up advantages... in Philly they just line em up and ask AJ and Smith to just win one on ones... and they're good enough that they can do that enough to win a lot of games, but this eagles team do nothing to give the offence easy options.

Its terribly uncreative, and the failure to provide structural answers to a blitz isnt Hurts, it's not like he's not throwing to hot reads... they just arent in the system! They get a clear zero blitz read and they dont have anything in the game plan to attack it... its' just reliant on Hurts making guys miss, extending the play and throwing deep... Can we get a sight adjustment? Can we get Davonta or AJ on a hot route slant? ANYTHING? Nope. It's not in the offence. That's not on the QB, that's the system

The structure of the offence and the underlying principles that it succeeeded off left with Stiechen. There is issues with the offence that need to be addressed with a new OC. Hurts isnt the issue though.

Solak and Kapadia have been banging on about this all season too on the Philly Special podcast.

This isnt new, they've had time to address it. And the reason we know it's not Hurts is because last year with Shane Steichen they had answers to that. Hurts had no problem reading it out and having some success (though it was admittedly not his strength)

The offensive infrustrcuture is broken right now and i dont think it has a lot to do with the QB.

Hurts not close to leading league in completion %

Yes, and that's wonderful but that's not what i said. Read again, friend.
i clearly stated completion percentage above expectation

He's now second to Josh Allen but has spent most of the year first in metric... this is a metric that specifically "accounts for air distance, distance from the sideline, target separation from the nearest defender, the quarterback's distance from the closest pass rusher, pass speed, and time to throw"

Put bluntly, Hurts is completing more throws than most in circumstances in which should lead to incompletions. He's throwing the ball well. But why is a QB with Smith, AJ Brown and Dallas having to make so many tough throws?

also the leader of completion % is 69.9 and Hurts is at 66.1... so over 3 games (roughly 33 throws per game) Hurts completes 1.3 less throws per game than the league leader... the f**k are you even talking about? Not close? He's literally 1 throw a game within the league leader lol

Pretty obscure stat category. All the main ones like yards, qb rating & completion % Hurts is not elite.
