The biggest annual wage ever in Football/Sport?

€80 million per season for Ibrahimovic at PSG

I'll explain:

Basically Ibra wants around €14m/season after tax. Not an unreasonable amount given his status BUT France has recently elected a Socialist government that will incredibly tax those who earn over €1m at a rate of 75%! Along with a few other taxes, that €80m boils down to roughly €14m after tax. The Qatari owners of PSG have said that they are more than happy to pay the taxes of their big name players.

So is this the biggest wage ever in the history of sport? In terms of football, I know Eto'o is currently on about $20m but Russia's tax rate for foreigners is about 15%. Drogba's getting $25m at Shanghai but again that's pre-tax.

Before tax it would be. Michael Jordan was earning close to $35mUS in the late 90's when the NBA relaxed it strict cap.

These Arabs should have bought out AS Monaco instead.

I think that could be regarded as overs

Why? The man does his job and that is to score goals.

The Russians did though. ASM should get promoted then we'll soon see a big 2 in French football. PSG and Monaco will win everything. It'll become like Spain.

I don't know, OM & OL will always be relevant in France. The unfair broadcast deal hinders La Liga. Plus ASM have to get back to Ligue 1 first. I don't think France will go the way of La Liga. I hope not anyway.

Er, he IS getting that money. He demanded the wages and got them. You're only worth what people are prepared to pay you.

I know he got it, but what i was getting at is that there is only a select few who are good enough to get those wages, and he isnt one of them,

I hope not either. I just fear we'll never see another period in French football where you have 5 different champions in 5 seasons.

On the other hand if PSG and ASM continually dominate, chances are that will translate into European success which will benefit the league as a whole. Who's to say that in 10 years' time France won't have 4 UCL spots?

Carlos Tevez is reportedly on 250,000/week after tax, which what I can work out is around 490,000/week before tax.

That is pounds.

But, there was a rumour around that a clause in his contract would trigger his salary to double if City win the league. That is 500,000/week after tax, 1,000,000 week before tax.

That would be 52,000,000 GBP a year.

66 million Euro a year. Only a rumour but that is close to Ibra.

The Monaco guy while rich I think he said he doesn't want to spend big.

Alex Rodriguez 10 years for $275 million. Ridiculous money thrown around in baseball. Read somewhere his annual salary is actually $33 million a year as well.
