The Bunker

Extremely soft.
Seems like The General just copped out to save himself a tough and possibly controversial decision on a possible penalty try

What would you have us see instead??

(The only way to improve it would be Youtube videos of cats falling over put to Benny Hill music)

It sets the parameters for the VideoRef "I think X happened. Can you prove, beyond reasonable doubt, that i am wrong"

In particular, i think this improves the spectacle for the fan. Decision arent out of the blue, there is a very definite "Benefit of the Doubt" in place before we even see the replay

The Bunker is supposedly the best option available so we all have to abide by its findings, having wankers dissect findings ad nauseum in a thread like this is futile . . . so what I would have you do is pull your f**king heads in and accept the best available options

'Prove beyond doubt I am wrong' . . . what a load of bullshit. How about I'm not f**king absolutely positive either way so I've leave it up to the Bunker rather than take a guess and risk making an idiot of myself'

One step at a time old mate. The new use of the technology is clearly an improvement. Eventually it will twig that a quick review of all potential try scoring plays is the way to go, rather than forcing refs to make an advisory guess.

Two things still raise my ire, what does it matter that we at home have to see everything the Bunker sees in the same detail, we aren't making decisions

I see it as channel 9 advertising the technology on behalf of the NRL who are desperate to fix referee reputation and raise awareness that they're trying to fix the game. Will probably give it a round or two more (or who knows how long) until we stop seeing the whole view of the bunker

That's it for me then, I'll leave it up to the more enlightened to persevere with Bunker Watch . . . just as I can enjoy the phenomena of completely disregarding Ch9

wasn't this ripped off from the NFL?

have watched many NFL games since 2014 when they introduced their system and you wouldn't know there was a f**kin bunker or review system HQ'd in New York, because we don't ever see the f**king thing. why should we have to? the footage over the weekend is just a bunch a blokes watching a monitor or two. FFS!

and the 'shot' clock for scrums, etc. how about just clock or timer?

nuffies running and delivering the game. absolute nuffies.

It is the MLB that did it ,the NFL do all there video reviews on the sidelines.

It's good for quicker decisions but obviously hasn't improved accuracy.

The problem is it doesn't solve the real issue, the number 1 cause of time wasting in NRL matches - that is, going upstairs for almost every decision.

In yesterdays game we went upstairs for at least 2 tries where souths dead set fell over the line.
So they dropped a few seconds off it, big deal. Never should have wasted time going up in the first place.

Really impressed by how the bunker has worked in the first round. Hasn't been any controversy and it's been quicker in getting decisions correct. Thumbs up from me.

This is not true, the NFL definitely has a bunker in place, it is located in New York. The major difference is that the onfield official consults with the review central. All scoring plays are automatically reviewed in the NFL.

What do the refs in the bunker think when they see a ref give ALL the 50/50 calls to 1 team like they have tonight in the Eels / Cowboys game?
