The Bunker

I reckon they should delay announcing the result of rugby league games for a week or so until after the bunker and its crack team of technicians and analysts has had time to fully audit the the game and decide upon a scoreline that is justified by the rule book.

Can you imagine the ratings for the announcrment of the winners?

Yep, either check every contentious decision at scrums or stick with the referee's call for all of them. Players and fans just need to know what to expect and they will accept it. The lottery of how a game is refereed at the moment is beyond a joke

They said they were moving away from in game decisions, guess they can't help themselves with all them screens. Doesn't help that the commentators keep calling for them to review and "have a word in the refs ear". Bunker is miles better in terms of speed, they should just look at what the ref asks for though, if he just asks to check onside don't then look at grounding etc. will speed it up even more.

Who'd have thought the bunker would continue to screw up obstruction calls
Everyone?

It's not as though the bunker has introduced any additional technology to make these decisions any easier. They've just given the monkey making the decision control of the existing tools.

If they get the right call (and it was a blatant knock on) what is the big deal. I'd rather they get the decisions right rather than teams getting screwed by wrong decision by on field refs.

Because players start to take advantage of it. Stay down after a bump to the face or slow down a play to give the video refs a chance to look at the play.

Yesterday Hoffman chased a Johnson grubber through to the in goal and as he reached his right arm out to ground the ball, Aiden Gueria grabbed him by the collar and pulled him away from the ball. Therefore no grounding and no try. What constitutes a penalty try these days? It went upstairs and only a penalty was awarded. I thought 10 mins in the bin for a professional foul would've been on the cards as well.

My thoughts are that if the refs come down hard and consistent with these types of acts, then there's really no complainant from the offending players/coaches. Have we lost the sinbin forever???

That's fine, it's just weird that other blatant ones don't get overturned and it seems to go simply on the mood of the refs at any point in time. And it gives players the opportunity to lie down 'injured' until things are reviewed. It's just a typically amateurish way to run a game

So you would be happy if in one game a player being taken out who was 5 metres from the play can be deemed as having an effect on the play, and in another game the same situation having the opposite result?

I would be happy if the ref made a sensible decision about whether the player obstructed had any effect on the play in both of those situations.

Oh wait we already had that, and I have no doubts you were one of the biggest sooks then as well.

Yeah ok champ.

Warrior vs Rooters.

Hoffman is chasing a ball in goal and is clearly a frontrunner, if not THE closest to it. All he has to do is keep running and then slam dunk the ball for a try but then Guerra realizes Hoffman is the only one closest to the ball and that he just needs a few more strides and a reach so Guerra cheats and pulls Hoffman back. Hoffman the potential try scorer whom DOESN'T have the ball is taken out by Guerra.

1. Penalty try
2. Sin bin Guerra for professional foul

10 times out of 10 those 2 things are the next to occur.

They go the bunker and the bunker can't even push the green button which the field officials would've put 2 and 2 together and figured it to be a penalty try. Then the field officials let Guerra get away with a professional foul.

We all know the sin bin is dead.

Hoffman even asked the ref about the professional foul and they said there wasn't one.
Pretty ridiculous sequence of events.

Yeah it's good that there's now a way for refs to be overruled when there's a major f**k up but it's opening a massive can of worms ... Foran and Arthur said in their after match interview that it might have been a fair call but there have been plenty of times calls have gone against them and the bunker didn't come to save them ... so what do you say to that.

Is this noticed by Oz fans?

I feel it needed to happen to Storm, Broncos or even the Roosters for it to become a big enough issue for the NRL to say, opps we stuffed that up.

Or, pun intended, do I just have a bunker mentality as a Warriors fan.

Poor didums. If they get the right decision, who cares whether it is via the Bunker. The refs are hopeless so lets not miss errors thanks.

Fans will care because the games will become stop start and boring to watch. We had the vid refs checking everything a few seasons ago and everyone whinged massively about it.

Not sure on a penalty try for Hoff, only because the ball was kinda turning away from him slightly, but, definitely 10 in the bin for Guerra. The sin bin is officially dead I think its fair to say.
