How does the bunker get its vision. The HD trucks have 1080p / 4K vision mixers, whether they can output at that resolution I don't know. And how the bunker gets that vision is another thing. Satellite/fibre etc.

NEP have 3 4K trucks. I'm not sure they'd be getting that feed given its only available in certain games. Maybe they do.

Here's an example of what I was looking at earlier. Bottom left camera, which is what they used to make their decision.

Video ref had it paused on that frame for quite a while. You would expect that a 1080p feed wouldn't show interlacing like that even when paused and converted to 1080i for broadcasting.

Btw Seanoff, do you work in the industry? I had a casual job with Namadgi doing a support role for Fox Sports a while back. I was finishing up when Fox first started using the huge black digital production truck (Digital One or something?) I got to do one AFL game in that at Manuka oval. Turned up to find a completely new overlay system and an operator that didn't know how to use it expecting me to teach her.

Never seen a game of anything that f**ked up the timer and score overlays as hard as we did that day

The fact that Patten thought there was a gap for Vaughan to run through (despite clear interference from the two players standing either side of it) showed he knew the rule but again wanted to apply some "footballer sense" to the decision.

That decision, and the obstruction call from the other week, show that footballers don't belong in the video referee box. Let referees referee games and get those dopey f**ks out of the bunker.

Yep. They a few years back they went from having 1 Video Referee to having 2 Video Referees for each game, 1 was a qualified referee or retired referee, the other was an ex-player. They both had to agree for a decision to be made.
