elbows touch the ground before the line all the time as players are tackled. thats not the rule. you cannot promote the ball after the tackle is completed. elbow on the deck is not a completed tackle. this isnt the NFL, you are not tackeld at the point your elbow touches the ground.

his momentum was never stopped. he was pulled over the line by the defence on top of that. if you interpret the rule as you suggest the scoring in the NRL will drop by about hlaf. .

You may want to read the rule book, specifically the section on what consitutes a tackle

:edit:

Better yet, here it is:

Section 11.2

A player in possession is tackled:
(a) when he is held by one or more opposing players and the ball or the hand or arm holding the ball comes into contact with the ground.

The elbow is quite obviously a part of the arm

If an arm with the ball touching the ground is tackled why is there not a penalty every game?

Probably that little thing called momentum ey?

Do you gonestly think he did not promote the football after that point? You don't think him extending his arm to reach over his head and touch the ball down was improving its position?

Of course he did
He was dragged over the line by Napa
Watch without your rooster googles on.
There is a reason not one single commentator or ex ref or anyone with brains reckon it was double movement .

Real time...

It's a hit an spin except the players are on the ground instead of standing up.

I'm open to suggestions where it cannot be a try.

I will say it, i actually agree with Danish, this has never ever been a try in rugby league. His elbow clearly touches the ground, after that point he is not allowed to promote the football. If he slides or rolls into the ingoal and the football touches the ground through no extra effort than its a try, but there is clearly an extra effort. Been that way forever.

Napa clearly drags him in as well

Hit the ground is debatable .
The bloke probably had no idea seeing how his arm barely brushed a blade of grass while he was still moving.

I must have missed the section in the rule book that states that double movement penalties are void of the player didn't know he was tackled

It's a try.

The arm brushed the ground while his body was in the process of crossing the line with momentum. There's plenty of tries in which this happens.

To put it another way, the movement that got him across the line started before the arm touched the ground. That can't be called a second effort. It was the first effort.

He wasnt tackled .
He was still moving and being thrown Across the try line by the roosters.
Probably why he put the ball down cleanly.
Unlike topuo- who clearly knocked it on in a previous game.

He was tackled and clearly makes a second effort while facing away from the tryline. The fact Napa assists him in it isn't relevant.

His ball carrying arm touched the ground while he was being held by 2 defenders.

Do I need to post the very first definition of s tackle from the laws of the game for a third time?

Napa and fergo rolled him onto his back on top of them holding him up. He then reached out and placed the ball on the ground. Text book double movement.

If you want to argue that the camera angle dos not clearly show a grounded arm enough to warrant overturning the onfield decision, then I will understand that argument. I believe his arm is shown to hit the ground, but concede the footage is not 100% conclusive. Still enough in my eyes to overturn, but others may not agree and how much evidence is required to overturn is still very much a grey area (the term "sufficient" used by the men in the bunker is vague at best).

If you believe his arm touched the ground, but still think it is a try, then you simply do not know the rules of the game you support

He was NOT tackled before the effort that got him over the line. That is the end of it. His arm touched the ground during this movement, not before it.
