They tried to explain this in the movie, changing the past doesnt change the future, it creates an alternate reality that splits off from the main timeline
Was that when Banner was speaking with the Monk chick? Is so didn't she say explicitly that doing so was a bad thing and why she wanted the stone back? And if so then why bother taking all the stones and the hammer back

Cap takes that back like all the stones doesn't he? he takes it with him at the end but doesnt have it on him when he's old
Yes, but it also pretty pointless that it is back for something that is no longer needed as the antagonist has ceased to exist

Yeah and I think Stark kind of said it as well earlier

She said it would be bad for HER universe/timeline

They basically introduced the multiverse, taking the stones from the past would create another universe/timeline that existed without that stone, and hence events would happen differently in that new universe, but that wouldn't change the "future"/present of the current universe (the MCU)

Its hard to explain haha, but those lines she drew while explaining it helped

I wouldn’t worry about spoiler tags, the thread title has spoilers. My thoughts

The first 2/3 of the movie didn’t live up to the hype. It wasn’t bad or anything, I just thought IW as a whole was a better movie

The final fight scene though was amazing - and saved it from being average, deus ex machina stuff was overused a bit though

Essentially it’s a time travel movie (first time 2 hours anyway) and it’s always risky playing with time travel in a movie, so many questions get asked. Overall they did an ok job of keeping that aspect simple, not perfect

Does anyone remember the Captain Marvel post-credit scene?

They were gathered around Nick Fury's gadget thing that calls her, and then she shows up.
That didn't happen in the movie at all

They tried to explain this in the movie, changing the past doesnt change the future, it creates an alternate reality that splits off from the main timeline

Yeah, you can tell they though about it when the question was raised on why don't they go back in time and kill baby Thanos (pointing to the moral question of killing baby Hitler)

I don't think they explained it well enough, but from I understood they didn't want to change the past because you couldn't, they just wanted to get the infinity stones and 'undo' what Thanos did 5 years after the fact, then put them back. So the past still happens

Except past Thanos dies in the future, so I don't know how it works

Oh, one other thought:

When Captain America picked up the hammer, I was grinning like an idiot.

That was awesome
They hinted at it in Age of Ultron, when they were gathered around the table. Cap had his turn and it moved just a bit and Thor had a confused look on his face

Fast-forward to 5 years post-Thanos he picks it up and Thor yells "I knew it"

One thing I noticed that I just read the answer to on screenrant. The ending there was a teenage boy standing on his own as it panned through the crowd that I had no idea who it was.

Turns out it's the kid that helped Tony out in iron man 3

Yeah it took me a bit to work out who he was.

I really hate time travel especially when it shows up late as a plot device for the protagonist to get the advantage. Have not seen the movie but that has me waiting for a home release.

The captain Marvel/avengers intro took place in the post credits of the Captain Marvel movie, game breaker

The timeline has me confused

In Endgame, she arrives by saving Tony and brings him back to Earth, all the other Avengers are surprised to see her
or did she arrive on Earth first (in the post-credit scene, off-screen in EG) then go find Tony and bring him back, and the Avengers are still surprised to see her

It doesn't ruin the movie, so I'll definitely recommend watching it in the cinemas

I think they are more surprised they found Tony.
