I didn't like Winter Soldier much either, but I didn't know as much about the supporting characters before the movie as I do now so I think that would have added to my enjoyment of it.

I'm a huge Superman fan though and I'm pretty annoyed at what they've done with that franchise. It should be as good if not better than Nolan's Batman movies but it's not even close.

Man of steel was incredibly average. DC have failed miserably at fleshing out a character thats not named Batman. In the cinematic world Marvel owns DC.. either directly via their own studio or indirectly via Fox's XMen. A movie like Captain America The Winter Soldier is way beyond man of steel and in my opinion on par with the best batman flick. Guardians of the galaxy is fantastically fun. Cost almost half of what green lantern did to make yet wipes the floor with it.

Perhaps the Burton films, but not Nolans

I love the DC fanboi v Marvel fanboi debates

DC has failed fans in all of their films barring Nolans Batman trilogy (although I did not like TDKR)

Marvel has had a bit more success but has probably put out 2-3 times the volume and failed just as much (Daredevil, Ghost Rider, Elektra, Punisher all come to mind)

Its a tough gig converting, in most cases, 50+ years of story and character history into a 2-3 hour movie and getting it right.

I am one of the few it seems who thought MOS was close to the best that could have been done on a standalone Superman film.

That's the second time you've said he was given the avengers on a platter. Explain how?

One thing is for certain...if Snyder had directed the avengers, it would've been an over bloated cgi piece of shit with absolutely no plot or character development (see man of steel)

But that's pretty much what it was. Besides the incredibly short scene with Black Widow with Loki, there was no character development - it didn't need much anyway considering most of it had been done in previous movies. And the overall story is pretty much nothing (bad guy wants to take over the world for 'reasons'. Cue faceless army for good guys to easily smash through).

Was still a lot of fun though.

Really? I found winter soldier kinda hard to get through and I'm a huge super hero fan. Not saying your opinion is wrong but I thought the first Captain America was better than the second.

Only movie to rival latest batman films (from marvel) imo is first spider-man (tobey maguire) and avengers.

Spider-Man isn't from Marvel. It's a Sony production.
Besides, the original S-M movies don't hold up much in my opinion. They are incredibly corny and cartoonish. The dialogue in particular was dreadful.
OK if you like that sort of thing, but I actually prefer the new ones.

Winter Soldier I very much enjoyed when I first saw it, but watching it again last week I thought it wasn't as good second time around.
I liked that it didn't focus on a McGuffin like so many other movies (First Avenger, Thor 2, Avengers and GOTG just from Marvel have this in common) and I kind of liked the villain's motivations (was more interesting than the same old "I want to take over/destroy the world" trope.
But for some reason I just thought it was lacking.
Pretty much all Marvel movies are like this for me - most of them are very good, but none of them are great. At the very least they are pretty good fun.

Guns?
Batman doesn't use guns.

It does look pretty cool though, if a little chunky.
Can't wait to see it in action.

The batmobile has had a history of having guns mounted on it. No reason why it cant shoot rubber/non-leathal rounds

I haven't read all the comics so I guess I'll take your word for it.
I know Batman used guns in the '89 film. He had missiles too...couldn't hit a standing-still Joker with them though.

The merc with a mouth finally has a date with the big screen. 20th Century Fox officially announced a February 12, 2016 release date for the long-awaited Deadpool movie. Yes, Deadpool is a Valentine's Day weekend release!
Deadpool's competition on that release date includes the genre epic Gods of Egypt, the animated Pets, and the romantic comedy How to be Single.

Deadpool / 18 Sep 2014
Ryan Reynolds, a fan of the character who played Deadpool in X-Men Origins: Wolverine and has been attached to star in the solo film/reboot, was recently asked about the leaked test footage of him in the Deadpool costume. "The movie has been in a state of limbo for a while. There was such an overpowering reaction to the footage, you sort of feel like, 'Oh, so we weren't crazy for our reasons for loving this character, for loving this role.' It's interesting to see the power of the Internet. It's awe-inspiring, actually," Reynolds said to the Niagara Falls Review. "And it's neat that Twitter and Facebook and Instagram can move mountains when used in the right way."
Tim Miller will direct Deadpool, and The Hollywood Reporter says that, while no deal is in place for Reynolds to star, "Bets are that he will."

So:

2016 - Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice
Suicide Squad

2017 - Wonder Woman
Justice League

2018 - The Flash
Aquaman

2019 - Shazam
Justice League 2

2020 - Cyborg
Green Lantern

SO they have their plans mapped out now. Great to finally hear.
I hope it works out well for all these movies. Still got a year and a half until BvS, so plenty of time to get excited.
