at the end of the day the only guaranteed way of getting crowds and money is .... winning f**king games

thats why the dogs and souths are going well - they have something going for them on hte field .... yes you then need to take advantage of the onfield success and manage it well to take full advantage, but you could try and put the best management in place possible, yet until you go ok on the field you'll be shovelling shit uphill

ANZ is awesome when you are a corporate guest. (Sounds like MITS is, or an ANZ member, $$$$)

The average punter isn't interested in or is unable to spend that kind of money.

That is a generalisation of the highest order.

That's why I used the word "average". Not sure what you are getting at here just quietly.

Sounds like you've been to the Alan Jones School of Typecasting.

Suity

LOL at insult, the comment above makes more sense now, somehow you got upset, I apologise for upsetting you with my use of the word average to indicate a generalisation.

When posters on here complain about ANZ "not being a great place to watch footy" - can you guys elaborate exactly why?

I have watched a number of games there and the view in my opinion is fantastic! No-one getting in your way whilst walking down isles, Not having to stand to see a try being scored in the corner, better replay screen, less obtrusive PA, better catering, more toilets etc etc.

Do English fans who watch EPL at Old Trafford, Wembley, Emirates complain this much?

yeah i'm generally not too fussed by the view at ANZ - but then I am the type to prefer to sit a bit further back and get a wider view of things

even though they move the sides in these days, you are still further back from the sideline - and the ends of the ground are a long way from the deadball line ..... so people who like to be real close are probably a bit PO'ed at the ANZ view .... i can understand that too

we all luv parra stadium, but the truth is the club pays way too much for hire of the ground. The stadium trust think that the eels will never leave coz the leagues club and football office are all there and its a great set up. Thats why they charge whatever they want, which apparently is twice as much as other clubs pay for there grounds. I say we leave and move to anz, the club would be alot better off financially, if its good enough for the rabbits and dogs, then it should be for parra, its also only 15min from parra

Did people used to complain about the view at Cumberland? Lidcombe?

For years our SOO and finals were played at the SCG ! That was a loong way from the action.

I don't think it's that bad tbh. Although I will admit I don't think I have sat behing the goalposts at ANZ.

the view behind the goals at anz is better than the north and south terraces at parra stad coz u get alot wider vision, parking and public transport are better than parra stad, the facilities at anz are the best, for each game they should have the huge banners on top level and other banners behind goals to cover up unused seats , like the bulldogs and rabbits do.This reduces the amount of empty seats visible on tv.Also we would be able to encourage all fans to come to games with minimal fuss, as we saw for hindys farewell , we have huge potential to draw 30-40000 crowds for our big games

Just as Rabbitohs and Bulldogs average attendances have, since they moved there.
I'm happy to lose the Bart and BAE and Bongo season ticket holder types if it means we'll gain ten more for every one we lose.
Adios whingers.
What's good for the club as a whole financially, is good for all of us.

absolutely agree, we need to move with the times, we have the biggest and most dormant fan base in sydney, as with the hindy farewell being sold out at parra, then with the move to anz we somehow got an additional 20000 parra fans that bought tickets in the last week. We had atleast 40-42000 fans out of the 45800 at the game

The Bulldogs and Souths didn't start winning until this year. Both missed the semis in 2010-2011 like us but still built a solid membership base and got decent crowds. Their current membership bases aren't based of their good 2012 seasons, it will be their 2013 membership base that will pick up even further because of that.

I'm not against the move. But it's not a rugby league stadium. It is larger and circular meaning you are further away from the view. For example, if you are seated behind the goal posts there is probably a 20 metre gap between the front row of seating and the dead ball line. In the upper tiers you're so far away from the action often you can get a better view of the big screen than the field.

Most of the problem comes from just being too far from the action. It is no good for people who want to go to the footy to watch the footy. Probably OK for others - it is a lowest common denominator venue and in a city the size of Sydney it is probably all that is needed. There will be enough people who don't really care to fill the joint.
