Just getting a point across.
I suppose I am fairly passionate about this after just reading this book.
It's a pretty sad state of affairs when a sport like rugby union has held sway internationally purely because of underhanded tactics with friends in powerful positions.

Its a fact but is not known generally which is the real issue. The powers that be are very good at deflecting, hiding what is really happening by their devious and unsportsmanlike conduct.

It(the repression of RL) needs to be recognized and in due course acted upon by Australian rugby league.

A cleansing and a "fessing up" by the code of rugby union will do wonders for their moral make up.

It will also give RL its rightful place as the dominant rugby code of the world as time goes on.

Tbf it isn't purely all their doing, RL has contributed to it's own problems as well by ignoring int development and allowing the term "rugby" to become synonymous with rugby union

Andrew Voss use to do a good job with it, knew the schools & history of the comp well (in regards schoolboys who had gone on to become Kangaroos) Since they got rid of him they are obviously not interested in anyone with in depth knowledge of the sport.

I couldn't care less about any domination it'll never happen in my lifetime anyway if ever, all I want is for the Rugby League version of Rugby be recognised and left in peace to go about its game as it pleases without outside interference from much bigger and more powerful sporting and political organisations.

Point taken.
Rugby league would and should be described as elite rugby.

A game that on average has about 700 tackles and therefore 700 runs compared to a game that has about 150 tackles/runs is a blatantly obvious statistic that shows that RL has much more of the rugby features that fans want to see: namely running with the ball and tackling.

The RU people have been propping up their outdated code for many years by trying to scuttle/eradicate a supremely better form of rugby worldwide.

This is very real and its time RL in Australia started to let people know what has happened internationally. Aussies are fair minded people and this sort of knowledge will answer many questions about RU and its "amazing" worldwide "acceptance."

The "Capetown to Campbelltown" comment by that RU administrator from the North Shore can be well and truly debated!

It's the old Betamax v VHS war! Doesn't matter the superiority of product if you lose the marketing war.

I would be happy to lose a "marketing war" if every participant was given a fair go. To date RL is not given a fair go.

Mind you RL would absolutely trounce RU on an even footing and I believe these RU people know this, and are doing their darndest to repress the greatest game of all.

Its time to tell the world about what has been happening to our sport. Otherwise no one will know and ignorance is sublime. I am sure that many fairminded RU people , given this knowledge, would change their allegiance to RL.

And I'm also sure that their is the unsportsmanlike element in RU as well and that is the real enemy. These people will deflect, ignore, refute and dismiss the truth and that is the way these people have worked for many years.

This is more of a sporting rights issue than anything else!

But it seems Australian Rugby League's interference is from the inside(ARLC) as well as the outside(TV).

This book is one of the two most brilliant Rugby League books money can buy

The other is Sean Fagan's "Pioneers of Rugby League"

It's a great book (Forbidden Game) and picked it up for less than $20 on the Book Depositary a year or so back. Love Fagan. Shame we lost him to the dark side these days, it seems.

Other faves:
- "The Rugby League World Cup" (League Publications). Has the story of every world cup including 2008. Topical for this yeay.
- All of Adrian McGregor's books. Loved the Wally trilogy way back when. Also have a copy of his book on the 1990 Kangaroo Tour that I picked up for loose silver change at a second hand bookshop about five years ago.
- "Captaining the Kangaroos" by Alan Whiticker
- "The Kangaroo Tours by Ian Heads

The book is essentially about the contradiction that was shamateurism in France in Rugby Union and the French RU hatred for Semi-professionalism in League.

They considered the concept of playing sport for money as sinful and it was indirectly linked to Judaism when the Vichy Govt ran the country during NAZI occupation.

The French Govt contained many RU sympathisers and they went about "Deleting" Rugby League from France.

They even prevented the game from using the term Rugby. It wasn't until the early 2000's that the French Govt apologised to the French RL about these atrocities.

French RL still didn't get any recompense for all the property and monies lost (which were all given straight to French RU).
Interesting read. It's Amazing the French had such a wonderful side back in that era ( 40's-50's) with underhanded rubbish like that going on.

Are you talking about him writing a book about the first lions union team?

If so , I think you'll find its a very pro RL book , I think its major emphasis is on how the first lions tour help lead to the RL breakaway.

Most of that first team were from the north.

Steve Mascord recently wrote about how iirc the Moroccan RU had the police over there stop a touring British RL match and a bunch of other sinister stuff. South Africa still refuses to give accreditation to RL bodies, etc.

It's ridiculous that this kind of thing used to happen, let alone still occurs.

Forgot to mention that other examples of RU repression of rugby league are:

In Ireland in 2008 two Aussies were playing RU (amateur) and requested to play RL(amateur) in the off season. They were told by the Irish RU administrator: " You can play any sport you like except for rugby league."

In Japan in 2013, two Aussie employees were sacked by the company they were working for because they played a charity game of rugby league on the weekend.

In New Zealand rugby league is played in schools in the Auckland area. Outside of Auckland, schools are not allowed to play RL.

I have heard that in Russia, where the game of RL was once flourishing, that RU cohorts have got in the minds of corporate backers that followed RL and enticed them to support RU. No doubt the friends in high places trick worked again for our unscrupulous and unsportsmanlike RU people. There are no doubts many more examples exist and if someone has heard of any examples let people know. RL has nothing to hide . RU has!

The general public do not know this persecution of the game of rugby league exists! It's well hidden and a product of RU bias people in positions of power.

You are an outright liar.
