The Hay Thread

Mate I know when the Richards boys moved to Yenda.

1993 is far better than 95. Clayton Cup that year! Disappointing about the 16s, any news on 1st grade being in Group 20 this year? Would be interesting with the Pie in the Sky game against Yenda, however if it still reserves then I might be playing against the old NRL players. Interesting.

I think, from memory Chris went in 1996..The season after Hay beat the Springs at Barellan.
Trevor was already at Yenda. Hay moved into Group 20 in 2007.
Would the Springs still have a team NOW.
Goolgowi played out of Griffith. What's the difference being in Group 20?
Whitton folded, Hanwood folded, Ivanhoe folded, Narrandera was banned, Euabalong folded, Barellan folded, Hay would have been the next to go...it was that close....
NOW it is booming. If you played in the preliminary final at Wade Park, you would have seen the influence Hay supporters brought to the atmosphere on the day, with its "Supporters Group", with the drums etc. Atmosphere, encouragement and passion...that's what the Club brings to Group 20...

Trevor Richards signed for Yenda in 1995, the year after his stint in Parramatta lower grades. Chris and Steve went in 1998 after Springs won the 97 Grand Final. Chris won Group 20 player of the year in his first year.

Goolgowi played in Goolgowi, they only moved their Grand Finals to Griffith. Three Ways played out of Griffith. Hanwood was only in for 2 years or so, Narrendera was in Group 20 when they were banned.

And yes, the club's supporters are the best in Group 20. But it doesn't bring my club back and they could have been that passionate about Group 17.
Even Group 20 is struggling when Black and Whites can not get junior teams. Griffith, with it's 20,000 people should be able to get at least two full clubs when Hay, Darlington Point, TLU and Yenda can get a full club with far less population.

There was a plan to have Springs play as Waratahs reserve grade a few years ago, didnt go anywhere though...

Good onya Muzz. Enjoyed the to-ing and fro-ing, as I do always. You love your League, as I do. I love my Eels, Raiders and Magpies...You just love your Eels...
AND as I said to old mate, it is only a game, and we are all doing our bit to make sure it survives.

that's where you're wrong..I also love my Magpies! just not the Hay type..;-)

Disappointing.

I've always seen Hellsy as the Tom Humble of Group 20.

Suity

you are hijacking a thread that i created because these posts were hijacking other threads... it's like a vortex of annoyingness

I would love another game at the Springs. Nothing goes on at the sports ground anymore, it's in terrible shape. Give me a chance to play on my home ground as well, never got to play there.

Start pushing for it. I am sure Adam and the Yenda committee would go along with it. The Springs area has been a good feeder for the Blueheelers..
Even a preseason trial there???
