What a slap in the face to nein and a boost for foxsports
Good Channel 9 treat viewers with contempt. They get what they deserve.

One of the great semi finals in Newcastle and Canberra went to extra time this year.

They couldn't wait to get the 9 news on once the siren ended. Because it was after 6pm.

No post game interviews or analysis on the game. Just straight to the news with Peter overton.

Try being a Roosters or Warriors fan in 2008 when you wanted to watch the week 2 finals match between the two teams that year. AS it was a NZ game, kick-off was at 6.30 pm (AEST) so Nine showed the game on delay. They had to show the News and A Current Affair  I feel for you, but Nine have worse form on stuff like this, even when it was specified in its TV contract with the NRL that all finals games had to be televised live.

Can it be explained why these matches are being played in Las Vegas as surely if your going to promote a sport and garner interest from the locals then they had to play these in either New York or Los Angeles.

Las Vegas sporting folk minds would be on whether or not the Oakland A's (MLB) will relocate to Las Vegas the same as the Oakland Raiders (NFL) did.

Last time I heard was that some of the teams still didn't have a base in the USA for training purposes even.

Partly the weather. Playing in Vegas, Nevada has a dry climate so it is more conducive to people wanting to attend. Additionally, its actually in the middle of winter in the US in February - bit hard to get people to attend playing outdoors in New York.

Cost might also be another, as whilst the NFL is over by then, but MLB is in pre-season mode, so not all stadiums will be available.

Additionally, if you want to get TV eyeballs, playing it in Nevada is a good compromise for US TV audiences. You get mid-west times, and not the 3 hour time difference between US eastern and US west times.

Getting Las Vegas to pay 10 to 20 million for the tourists this brings

getting an American pay tv deal (guess who owns foxsports ?)

gambling and other sponsorships

players to get a free two week holiday travelling business class the staying at the best resorts whilst their missus stays home

You must be stoned if you think Vegas is going to pay the NRL to play there.

It's Las Vegas, not f**king Dapto.

If anything the NRL is paying the State of Nevada, for the use of there facilities.
