The Las Vegas Thread

Something like that would get me and my friends interested but it would require a ton of people travelling over to be a success. I think something like we have now spread over a few days would be enough.

The problem with multi-day schedules is that you're then competing with Las Vegas, rather than complimenting Las Vegas.

With a single day of football, you can still do a lot in Vegas on a 4-5 night trip.

And so much easier to market as well it being a game between two countries, that will help catch people`s attention alone, rather than it being a game between two Australian states or club teams.
There has been some concern that the score may be lop-sided, I `d say even if it is, there will be plenty of long-range tries, chain passing and open League as is more synonymous with the women`s game presently that will pique the uninitiated interest, the score won`t matter so much at this stage.

Lop sided in terms of you think Australia will win easily? Yes, that might be a concern but great post all the same

Yes, that does seem to be the general consensus, but as I said just getting people to have a look at what should be an attractive product should be enough to start with and Yanks seeing Australia vs. England you might think be a little more tempting to go and see than say two Aussie club teams.

Saw some travel packages with Qantas and accommodation for 6 days. Prices varied from 5k to 7k. So I'm guessing the whole week would cost about 10'ish grand.

I'm sure it could be done cheaper booking your own flights and accommodation.
A mate from work went over this year and he reckoned he budgeted 15k total, but he went big on the partying and gambling.

So it would seem; although the Warriors/ Raiders seem an odd choice to feature in such a showpiece match.
Raiders v Warriors games been historically close affairs (9 of the last 15 have been by 8pts or less), they represent locations that an international audience are more likely to know (versus Penrith v Cronulla), plus the earlier time-slot means the NRL also works well for NZ.

PVL would be trying to win in as many markets as possible, he knows Panthers v Sharks is the better game for the Australian market and more likely to replicate the Broncos v Roosters ratings than the Raiders v Warriors.

So TV schedule looks to be:

Wigan v Warrington : Fox Soccer Plus
Raiders v Warriors : Fox Network
Jillaroos v Lionesses : Fox Sports 1
Panthers v Sharks : Fox Sports 1

Raiders v Warriors will be 7pm EST, so prime time on the east coast.
