Poida, if you're not training that player, I would definitely advocate selling him. There's quite a market for trainees for the new forward-towards wing order, and with the money you get you should be able to buy a more skilled, higher experienced forward. That's my advice for all youth pulls. If you pull a good player from a position you're not training (even if he's good enough to straight away go into your first team), sell him. You will almost always get enough money to buy an older, better player. Only if they're 19yo would you perhaps not get enough.

Hevy, the most important thing for long-term success in this game is to get a training system in place. First thing to do is get a passable coach with poor leadership. Then choose one of the main training types (Playmaking, Scoring and Defending are the main ones, followed by Crossing (Winger) and Goalkeeping) and buy 17 or 18yo's with the best skills you can afford in that area.

Your team won't have as much instant success as it would if you bought older more experienced players, but give it a season or two and you'll fly straight past other new guys who went for the instant success.

ps. Mony, you should really play with five defenders in the friendlies so you can train 9 players a week. I also try to play with 5 in the league whenever possible, although I have no problem dropping my 10th trainee in the hard must-win games.

thanks mad dogg!! yeah ok i think i'll sell him and then save up and maybe buy one or two better class players in the off season. or possibly before the end i suppose. i think one of my guys should go past brilliant soon and i''ll sell him off before next season simply because his wages might be a bit hefty for a team like mine next season. i'll see what happens. anyways i'll write up a whole big thing later on!

Cheers Mad Dog.

can you explain the training thing a little more for me?

If I choose defending as my training strategy, does that mean only a certain number of players get trained?

Also, what should I be investing in my youth squad each week? At the moment I'm varying it between $20,000 and $40,000

If there's a defence trainer out there with an Oceanian world class defender w/ passable+ passing, who'll be up for sale in about 4 weeks, I'm interested. I'm planning to sell off a trainee of mine, one Alberto Aphesteguy, which should provide my club with the cash to bring in a world class defender. Alberto for the record will soon be a world class playmaker with inadequate passing. I'm hoping to make about $6,500,000 from his sale... tehehe

Whenuapai are set to win back to back V.228 championships, giving the club its 3rd piece of silverware. The only difference is that this season I've decided not to throw any games which means we're set for a crack at division IV next season. Our best hatstats is 167, which probably isn't good enough for division IV, although my midfield has managed a couple of passable ratings. With the state my current league is in, the challenge will a breath of fresh air no doubt.

hello everyone!

i''ve just picked up a friendly with the burnt out koalas for next week so i am well chuffed with that. i have received challenges from him for the past few weeks but i always got on too late to accept them before someone else had. luckily with my supporter it came up straight away that he had challenged me and accepted straight away..

anyways what i really came in here for today was for some opinions on what i should do with this chap:

Dragos Dumitru
TSI = 13 000 , 22 years, weak form
Has poor experience and wretched leadership abilities

Stamina: excellent Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: magnificent Passing: poor
Winger: poor Defending: inadequate
Scoring: weak Set pieces: passable

i know he is nothing particularly special, but he has just jumped up to magnificent like i thought he was close to doing. now i think i want to sell him because my team really needs some quality over the rest of the park. i think i need some quality attack for my team. now i could get between 4-5 million for him, but his form has dropped to weak this week, so i dont know if i should wait for it to go back up a bit or if i should just sell him now. i probably wouldnt buy new players till the off season anyway but i'm not sure when i should sell him. i could probably throw an extra 10000 seats in my stadium aswell.

anyways, thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

whats your stadium hold and whats urs fansize........ imo save up and get an "awesome" central midfielder as i believe it is the most beneficial position....

well my stadium is currently 30000 and my fanclub is 1736

i'm in a pretty sh*thouse trot at the moment, but that should pick up from now.

i dont think i would buy a midfielder cause that's what i'm currently training and my guys are going along pretty well i think. so yeah. its just this guy i'm not sure what to do with. the other two high skilled guys are oceanian so i'll be keepin them.

Yes, only the players who played as central defenders or wingbacks in either the league or friendly game that week would get defence training. So what you would want to do is have 10 trainees and play the best five in the league game then the other five in the friendly.

The older a player is, the longer they take to improve. As a general rule, every year older they are than 18 will increase the amount of time to go up one level by between half a week and two thirds of a week. So a 17/18yo will take eight weeks to go up a level of defending, while it'll take a 21yo about 10 weeks.

DEFENDING - Can train up to 10 players a week, but it takes the longest to train (8 weeks for a 17yo). Is probably the hardest to have success with since you have to play 5-3-2 or 5-4-1 to maximise training and they aren't great formations to win with, however if you're patient enough to wait until you sell your trainees you'll probably make a bit more than what you'd get with the others. Quite a few teams forfeit a training spot and play 4-4-2 in the league, but I very strongly disagree with this for a new team. The money you can make by training that extra player will be much more than what you can make by being slightly more successful in the lower leagues.

PLAYMAKING - Can train 6 players (3 inner midfielders in both matches) fully and another 4 (the wingers) at 50%. Probably the easiest to have success with as you can play 3-5-2 (is perhaps the strongest formation in Hattrick - certainly the most common) or 4-5-1. 17yo's will take 7 weeks when played in the inner midfield positions; wingers twice as long.

Scoring - Trains the forwards, so if you play 3-4-3 (likely the second strongest formation after 3-5-2) or 4-3-3 you can train 6 players a week. 17yo's take 5 weeks I believe.

I'm not sure exactly how fast goalkeeping and cross passes train, I think it's between 4 & 5 weeks. Actually, you should read this article as it is the best newbie guide I've seen (warning - it's quite long):

http://www.hottrick.org/Sections+index-req-viewarticle-artid-3-page-1.html

As for the youth squad, I'd leave it at $20k for now. Once you've bought your trainees and got everything set up, then you can look to see if you can afford the full $40k.

Niiiiiiiiice. BOKs are the most successful team in Oceanian History. Many of us are watching with great interest as Sirfire drops down a few levels and restructures his team. It'll be very strange next season to look at the Pacific Premier and not see BOKs up there (I think they've been there since before I started playing Hattrick which was over three years ago).

Form doesn't effect transfer prices too much. On the other hand, transfer prices always fall away as the season draws to a close, so I'd say you're better off selling that player now. If you knew for certain he'd raise his form in the next week or two it might be worth waiting, but for all you know he could fall even further.

over the weekend my side secured the V.228 championship for the second season running. our victory over second placed bad dogs helped us move 11 points clear with 3 games to go. this season though we're set to promote. it sure is going to be an interesting time for the club. there's a feeling that we're not quite ready for the step up, so i guess it's all going to depend on what kind of league we end up. yeh

After winning my very first game I've since slumped to consecutive 6-0 and 7-1 losses.

So a question - I'm trying to build up my squad over time by developing younger players but am considering buying perhaps two slightly more experienced and better skilled players to play alongside them. Is this a good idea?

first season you play is always going to be difficult.... if you just keep training your ten 17,18, 19 year old players you will be very good next season.... its taken me 3 seasons now to get a team that can get around 40 stars..... i started with about 20....

this arvo i realised that my trainees tsi hadnt improved much in the last month or so.. i went to check my training and was horrified to see i've been training set pieces for the last month! sh*t.. ever since i forgot to put my team in against BOK's i've been training set pieces, so i've totally f**ked up my training, although i've got a few players with pretty decent set pieces at the moment!

haha... damn. :(

I'm going up to IV.22 next season. i'm hoping to buy a formibible striker, at least 1 world class defender, and either another world class defender or a winger of some skill. whichever fall within my budget. yeh. we'll probably still find ourselves on the end of several severe beatings before the season is finished, which will probably lead the club back to division V

Good Luck in Div 4 nibbs. That said, your better off buying some damn good strikers to captialise on any goal scoring opportunities than buying good defenders even though they are going cheap.

The following is my prefered starting XI for next season. At the moment, it's hard to say whether we're going to stand a chance in our new league (IV.22 Oceania, that is). But I have got some money, so we're going to improve. By how much is the question and will that be enough? Only time will tell, I suppose

Keeper - Nurjaman (Brilliant)

Defender - Taylor (Excellent)
Defender - Baker (Supernatural) $5.13 million signing
Defender - McIntosh (Excellent)

Inner Midfield - Barda (World Class)
Inner Midfield - Gournary (World Class)
Inner Midfield - Ramirez (Brilliant)

Winger - Vidal (Solid w/ Solid PM)
Winger - Kerrremans (Solid w/ Passable PM)

Foward - Vandenbussche (Outstanding)
Foward - Kaur (Formidable) or MacKenzie (Solid)

After making a quite handy signing this morning, I'll still have about $4.7 million left to spend. any ideas where this would be best spent? I was initially going to buy 2 defenders of some skill. I've brought one, but I'm just not sure if I should buy a second. Perhaps a new winger will be a better investment? Your ideas would be much appreciated

regards, nibbs
