Remember the good ol days when a Man U fan was apparently always justifying himself?

Seems we have been let off.

So Tom Shines and Brendothejet, how does it feel to become the very thing you have both despised for so long?

Wonder if noel gallagher is happy about all this, who f**kin cares to be honest, you should be thankful you have an old boy in charge, maybe he learnt a thing or two from sir and will know what to do with all that money.

Nope a club with a sh*tload of money and if used right possibly the success that can come with it. Thats what you have despised all this time isnt it? I dont blame you, being a fan of such a massive club and not getting the results you might think you deserve can be very frustrating.

The Premier League has been all about money since 1992. As much as I play on the 'poor lickle Citeh' angle, everyone wants to win trophies and this is the way you have to go about it. Then we really will be MASSIVE.

I don't begrudge rich clubs like Chelsea and Real for buying the best players, I do resent Johnny-Come-Lately fans though.

 you know f**k all about me.

Thats the problem with fans of sh*tty clubs, they think they know everything, they have a warped perspective on what is.

I didn't say you dickhead, did I?

I said I resent Johnny-Come-Lately fans — not only those from Manchester United, but those that suddenly became Arsenal or Chelsea fans in the late 90s or more recently.

Well you were replying to me so I just assumed ;-)

No need to get so upset champ, why dont you turn in for the night and fall asleep counting those 18 players your club is going to sign.

When was the last time a decent signing was made in the January transfer window? The only thing that happens then are rejects and panic buys.

Benjani and Caicedo, for instance.

didn't benji score against a team with red shirts....

Syd raider i have to second what wheelsy has said.

I think its unfair that city fans are copping flak because weve got some cash, because lets face it, we didn't sign up so we could look at the trophies in the cabinet did we?

Im only young and havent been around for as long as some obviously, but for the blokes whove not seen a trophy in 40 years then i say, go buy a beer and have fun.

Ill bet you Chelsea fans are glad the heat is off them. lol

Thats all well and good but let me give you some perspective...

this is the Man U thread isnt it?

No one asked you guys in here, yet here you are in all your justifying glory.

Hey i think its healthy to have some competition and I dont begrudge you guys of having a wealthy successful club, just remember what you guys have laid into in the past and be prepared to cop the same in the future.

you guys were around in the lean times, aint gonne be worth sh*t if you are winning titles and some blow in lables you as a johnny come lately cos you support a succesful club.

So get used to it guys, cos your time is starting now ;-)

This group is worth more than any premier league (or other league) club can turn in profit in 50 years. They aren't doing this for financial gain. They have already stated that it is about placing Abu Dabi onto the world sporting stage through ownership of a premier football club in the world's biggest competition.

These guys have hundreds of billions of dollars in oil. They make their money their mate, and in multibillion dollar commercial developments. The money involved in running an epl team is church change to them.

You believe that sh*t? Honestly?

What you think an EPL team is profitable when your lashing out 40 million pounrds per player?

even if they won the LEague Cup, FA Cup, UEFA, EPL and sold more shirts than the clubs has ever previously the winnings would still not come anywhere near what these make in a day of oil trading.

They have enough money to buy and sell the entire premier league. twice.

They've not come here looking for a quick buck.

of course they are gonna say this, and as a fan you really shouldn't get sucked into this PR exercise

its not about the world sporting stage its all about the world PR stage and now they have everyone's attention and they'll continue to release statements like this

that shouldn't detract from your short term success, its their long term effect that would be a concern for me,

when they get fed up with their new car, they just but another one

I cant see the passion in their actions other than what they can gain for themselves, not what they can gain for Citeh

You think an entire group of businessmen woke up one morning and said to each other "Hey, let's invest billions in a sh*tty English football team for a laugh!"?

You are taking the piss, surely. Rich people don't get there by wasting money, they want to make money on everything, even if it's a drop in the ocean to them. Don't be so naive as to think they are in this for fun.

Anyway, I found this little gem on another forum:

Has-been rocker and famous Bitter, Noel Gallagher (whose band Oasis* last made a decent album about a decade ago not that we’ve seen any reduction in his ego) has been mouthing off about Manchester City’s new-found wealth.
Gallagher reckons all us United fans are now bricking it, fearful that City are on the march and will soon supplant us at the top of the English game.
He even jests that:
“Every litre of petrol that a Man United fan buys will be going into City’s transfer kitty.”

Quite apart from the fact that he’s a City fan and therefore instantly worthy of contempt, Gallagher’s predictably dry but unfailingly unamusing observations make us loathe him even more.
Someone should perhaps drag him off cloud nine for a bit and remind him of the calibre of player they’ve managed to attract in Robinho who blabbled out this classic at a press conference when asked about his transfer to City:
“On the last day, Chelsea made me a great proposal and I accepted it,”
To which a reporter countered, “You mean Manchester right?”
“Yeah, Manchester, sorry!” answered Robinho.
City fans had better hope their new charge displays more presence of mind of the pitch than he does in press conferences.
When Sky Sports showed Mark Hughes meeting with Robinho in London on Tuesday morning, the Brazilian’s expression seemed one of embarrassed bemusement: so much so that we wonder if he actually knew who the f*ck Hughes was and who he’d signed for.
It all bodes well doesn’t it?
-Still I’m sure the £160K a week will help focus his mind….
Contrast, Robinho’s clueless gaffes with the measured words of Dimitar Berbatov when asked about his move to United:
“I am 27 now, I am at the biggest club in the world…”
“If I want to play for the money, I would accept the Manchester City offer or Chelsea,”
“The red shirt is the really big thing for me. I want to play for the biggest club in the world.”

City might have managed to get a big name with their ‘throw it against the wall and see what sticks’ approach, but it’s clear that United have got a player with superior motivation, despite City’s cheeky and very much deliberate attempts to unsettle us.
* Maybe the Arabs thought they’d be getting exclusive right to the exploitation of Noel’s band as well when they bought City - after all they love Oases out there, don’t they?

Another proud day in the history of Massives F.C. You break the British record for transfer fees and the boy you sign doesn't even know who he signed for .

I had a read and chimed in with a  after your "massive club" statement, guilty as charged, I honestly was laughing with you, your timing was impeccable.

Well that 'massive club' statement was made with tongue firmly in-cheek. And hey, we are massive. And RICH.

Widest pitch in the land as you know.
