My thoughts
- Dave Filoni isn't a great director, see the post above mine - you can't waste that much time in an episode on that sort of thing. There were a lot of pointless silences and dialogue delivery that was off, that wasn't a problem in the second episode.
- Enough of the lightsaber stabs not being life-threatening
- Ray's character seemed out of place at first, but that's just because I'll always see him as Pullo. He grew on me. I think him and his apprentice have a lot of potential, although her character was the main culprit for awkward dumb silences in episode 1
- If you haven't seen Rebels you're not going to care about this show
- Hera is a hard character to replicate, her voice actress in Rebels had that perfect sultry voice.
- I'm okay with Sabine being Ahsoka's padawan as long as it keeps her not force-sensitive, which they seem to be doing. It's not a giant leap in that case given she was trained with the Dark Saber.
and, perhaps the most important point for me
- Ahsoka in live action sucks. I was concerned about it after Mando and Boba Fett and the first two episodes of this hasn't helped alleviate those concerns. She's one of my favourite SW characters but there is no reason you would care or be interested in her character if you hadn't seen Clone Wars or Rebels. It's not the actress's fault - they seem to be going for this wise, mature, stoic Jedi which just isn't Ahsoka. She is completely devoid of her personality that made her so popular; she had strong emotions and a bit of sass and snark but now she is pretty much emotionless and uninteresting. Very disappointing. Maybe she's just another difficult character to replicate in live action. Unfortunately though I think it's Filoni's vision for her that is the problem.
