Simmonson kind of sucks but at least he looks like he is having a dig.

He’s got to be an all round better winger than Sivo to take his spot.

The way I see it, Sivo is on the nose by the fans like Matto was this time last year. Fans have the shits with him because he is not the total package, plus he got (gets) suspended.

Having said that if you break down individual aspects of winger play, Simonsson is not a better winger. They both have faults, but Sivo has less.

Take Simonsson’s runaway try out of his stats, he was no revelation. Did nothing remarkable and let in an easy try down his side because he was on his heels. Not aggressive enough. At least Sivo would have had a go.

Saturday we shut them down around 4 times when they went to the edges. I think it needs to be up to Brown to make the defensive call as he is 2 players.

I am fairly sure our wingers are coached like that Lumelume had 2 tries down his side on Saturday made me want to cry as it was so obviously going to happen.

Someone at the club told me that he trained the house down and was a real competitor and most importantly very well liked in the squad.

Would Sivo’s last game do? Caught in no man’s land at 0.48 and 1.42 (you have to cover someone, even if there’s an overlap), fumbled a ball for another try at 2.16 and showcased that turning circle at 4.01.

If you are going to look at all the tries ever scored down the LHS in the last 4 years and LOL at Sivo (or even just one game), then you also need to look at his centre partner’s impact on that play.

Anyway, this topic has gotten out if hand. I simply said that of the two players who both have flaws in their games, Sivo is a better winger than Simonsson. That doesn’t mean that I don’t cringe and yell at him, but we’re better off with him in the team in the long term, rather than Simonsson on the wing.

I’m fine if merkins want to disagree. As I said they both have flaws, so it is expected that others will arrive at a different conclusion.
