The Ricky Stuart myth

Stuart in his first two years was hailed a super coach. He won a comp in his first season, something madge failed to do.

Let's just wait and see what madge recruitment and retention is like, before blowing your load.

Would not be hard to be better than Stuarts recruitment over the years!

Stuart had a good squad that had played in a GF only 2 years prior, Maguire's squad was providing the lulz 2 years ago

Maguire inherited a decent squad only change he made really was Adam Reynolds to halfback. Souths were on the verge of the 8 for a while just needed the right coach

I think Ricky is the right coach for us at this point in time. To rebuild the club. Make the hard decisions and get us a competitive squad. When his time is up I'd say a coach like Parrish will take over and continue on with more success

Was reading Nick Tedeschi's from the couch blog on making the nut earlier and he mentioned an interesting stat.

Ricky Stuart is the only coach of the NRL Era to suffer a 10-streak loss with two separate teams.

Was also listening to the Big Sports Breakfast this morning and they mentioned that apparently Parramatta have mentioned to their members via an email or some other bit of communication (maybe a Parramatta member can confirm) that Parramatta expect to be competitive in 2015.

So wtf is going on in 2014? Has Ricky given up on that one already as well?

Peats, Mossop, Hock, Norman, Hopoate

+ guys already there who are reasonably handy like Hayne, Mannah, Moi Moi, Loko, Kelly, Sandow.

That looks like the makings of a competitive team right there. Ricky just trying to take the pressure off his squad a bit by writing off 2014 already or does he already feel he genuinely still can't make the finals with the talent he'll have at his disposal?

Well I'm glad we've cleared that up.

Parra will have a new coach by 2015, you heard it here first.

I think you'll find its actually $800k.

$1.6 mill to act as a recruitment consultant and front the media after a loss for two years.

Imagine what he'll cost once he actually starts coaching the team...

you left out blaming the soft targets in the Referees for his short comings.Fug,800k a season, makes it even worse.

Steve Sharp did say that, but what he meant to say is that by 2015, Stuart will have the squad he really wants. All the blokes he told to go away in 2014 will be gone by 2015, and he will be able to recruit their replacements.

I'm not crazy about Stuart, but there is no doubt that he has the toughest job in rugby league. That, and Steve Sharp (club legend or not) can't express himself clearly at all.

Parra will struggle to finish above anyone next year. They definately won't finish above the Dogs.

Dogs are going backwards whereas the only way for Parra is up. With some solid signings in 2014 we will make the 8 and the Dogs will be wondering what could have been.

There have been a few good signs this year and combine that with our 2014 signings, we will be much improved. There is no way we will get the wooden spoon again next year. We will be in the 8 and I'll be laughing.
