Well, to give SOME credit to Stuart, I think he made some good choices:
* playing Fui as a wide-running back-rower in attack (Fui is one of my favourite players, but he's getting old, and he's one-dimensional, and when running at opposition props, they can see it coming and smash him);
* playing Roberts at centre in attack (I know Roberts is [rightly] the laughingstock of the league, but I don't think anyone can deny that he is very good on his feet; take away his need to kick, pass and make decisions, and tell him to run, and he looks dangerous; obviously it's silly to get carried away after one performance, but I think he played well last night, even though his defence is still bad);
* he [mostly] played Toutai in the centres (kid is a natural centre; it was going to take time for him to learn to play wing).
I'm not a huge Stuart fan, I must admit, but probably his biggest decision (which I think is right) was moving Hayne to second receiver. Hayne had a "quiet" game in that he wasn't flashy, but I thought he was very good - defensively sound and put the defence in two minds every time he touched the ball.
Of course, I might be reading way too much into it because we finally won a game, but I think there were encouraging signs for the future of the Eels last night.
