It's not so much about retaining players but also about their poor recruitment of hacks like O'Meley, Anasta, Edmondsen, Doyle, Beattie etc. etc. when they should have been signing younger players who you could actually build a side on.

I wish that we would have promoted young players from 05-08 like David Shillington, Sam Perrett, Lopini Paea, Ben Hannant, Setaimata Sa, Mitchell Aubusson, Shaun Kenny Dowall, Mitchell Pearce, Frank Paul Nuuausala, Jamie Soward, Iosia Soliola, Shane Shackleton, Micky Paea, Nigel Plum, Heath Lestrange... Yep, if only we hadn't ignored those players.

The club had youth, most of them were crap. The Pillow left for a ridiculous wage, Hannant left because like Soward he too was a young sook, Lopini Paea became crap just like Soliola and Sa did.

The whole point of signing players was so that we had experience, the exact situation we find ourselves in now and spare that "the club was responsible for Stuart & Anderson" bullshit, poor little Jamie Soward didn't want to tough it out as an unproven 21 year old that's where it starts and ends.

I think it's fair to say that the penny has dropped for Anasta and Pearce. Luckily for you guys, Anasta is walking, but Pretty boy Pearce is still hanging around. Try and ditch him and find a better halfback (aware of the hypocrisy).

The constant between the attack and Newcastle with Smith and Roosters in 2010 was assistant coach Trent Robinson. He has done well with Catalans and in the same period our team has gone to shit.

O'Sullivan has been fantastic for us. If you want to blame anyone blame Smith with his poor choice of gameplan for a young side, Anasta for showing no leadership on the field, Mini for his now consistent brain explosions, FPN for not putting in and Friend for the slowest service in the comp. At least JWH, Guerra, Cordner and co are still putting in. We lack star players, we lack a strong gameplan and we lack leadership from those who should know better.
