I wonder if those 8 include -

2024 GAINS
Stephen Crichton (Penrith Panthers, 2027), Jaeman Salmon (Penrith Panthers, 2025), Blake Taaffe (South Sydney Rabbitohs, 2025), Bronson Xerri (2025)
and maybe 4 from other clubs

Their 2024 Losses are-
Jake Averillo (The Dolphins), Fa'amanu Brown (released), Brandon Clarke (released), Andrew Davey (Parramatta Eels), Jayden Okunbor (Hull FC), Tevita Pangai Junior (retired), Josh Reynolds (retired) and maybe 8 more likely as the ones mentioned have been accounted for to pay for some of the new guys.

Really culling a lot I think and thats why they probably have the money to get more.

The Bulldogs don't muck around while we take forever and a day umming and ahhhing!!
Well looks like the Dogs will be signing Drew Hutchison (Roosters) and Kurt Mann (Knights) (former Dragons players) to add to the above list. To me, both are very handy players.

Flannagan signing is akin to signing Mbye. He may be useful from time to time but we all know it ends pretty underwhelmingly.

Hopefully this is just a side to proper signings because we need to get some influential players in not more journeymen.

SMH reporting that Flanagan Jr set to join us on a 2-year deal and Dan Russell to be retained. Ryan Webb on the Dragon’s Den podcast mentioned that Flanno was still deliberating over retaining Billy Burns and was undecided at time of recording. It may be a case of one or the other and all signs are pointing to Russell at the moment.
Burns did himself no favours in the way he played his last game !!

I suppose that there is a little bit of nepotism here but I would love to see this father/son coach/player arrangement work out just like the Clearys' and Walters' have and so they can tell Gus and Robbo to get nicked.
Agree Dave, and I think if anyone can get the best out Flanno Jr then his old man can. Anything that will help us get somewhere I'm all for, if its good enough for Flanno atm then its fine by me.

Both handy mate but not fused at all. In fact, the Dogs signing for mine reap of desperation. Mann is a good utility, and Drew a decent back up. Nothing more.

They are both near 30.

Kyle is 24. I don't know how high his ceiling is as he hasn't had a decent run of games, but I'm hopeful he can thrive with us.

Rare for me over the past few years to see a half glass full, but I'm ok with this.

NRL contract years run from 1 November to 31 October. Hence he has to wait till his Bulldogs contract expires before he can officially turn up and start training with the Dragons.
thanks CA, I'm just wondering what he would do there to fulfil his contract. Its a shame that in this modern age we cant be flexible, but yet we can release players mid season to join another club the very next week.

I think we must publicly state 1 Nov to meet the letter of the law. But whatever actually happens may be different. Dogs may tell him “off you go mate” and all good. Problem would come with any injury between now and then - whose insurance etc

Thanks Redvee8, I have written a few contracts in my life, not NRL ones, but to me if both parties agree then a contract date can be changed to suit the circumstance, as I said earlier they can organise it in a week mid season, but anyway it is what it is.

Last time a coach brought in his son to Saints, the player went on to win the Clive Churchill medal in 2010.

Coincidence ? I think not.

Agree. Whatever our position on this it is done and dusted. I will welcome him like any other and see how he goes before the fruit chucking.
