It was one of the poorest performances I have encountered from a Dragons team playing for an ex team mate that has passed on . They could not get up yesterday for Thomo , this year was shot weeks ago ....

Posted elsewhere I have experienced bigger losses ( eg v Manly 61 zip ), but not worse losses... Thommo legacy, Flo, Kogarah record smashed, top 4 spot... I could go on.

Hangover doesnt help either :)

It's the most disappointed in the team I've been since the 70-10 loss to Melbourne in 2000. The other huge disappointment was the 38-0 loss to the Roosters in the GF in 1975. Yesterday ranks third worst from memory.

I was gutted after the 1999 GF but wasn't disappointed in the team. Yesterday was different

All these reports of unrest and players signing elsewhere only surface after a heavy loss. Take everything with a massive grain of salt.

Worst for me since the early 60’s , a lot of years have gone bye since then , a lot of Dragon teams and players , but each and every one of those players AWAYS put plenty of effort into their games .

When beaten , you were beaten by a better team on the day but the Dragon sides of the past pulled themselves together to give their best for the following week . Not these blokes though , there is just no pride in the team at the moment and I cannot see any light at the end of the tunnel until 2020 and that is some way off yet .

But back to the subject at hand , should this story be true it will certainly be a waste of some fine talent that a good coach would had brought into the top grade side and developed .

Young blokes won't sit on the shelf waiting for a coach who refuses to give them an opportunity.
While Jack Bird has had a disastrous year, his is a car in point. Denied an opportunity, went to another club and won a comp as well as play Origin.
More will do the same, how they turn out will be the test of McGregors judgment.

I wouldn’t forget that Herbert has ties elsewhere and even if that were not the case there are other teams that would be looking cheaper for starters. Other teams might consider him as a backup centre. Some salary caps are messed up.

Looking at us, Herbert would be regarded as a utility back. Would not be considered a first grade fullback, which is where his best form has been. I think he could have done a job as a winger next year, but Lomax is ahead of him. Sailor longer term is ahead of him.

I’ve read that comment about Bird a few times. Something that is continually perpetuated as are many things. Beau Scott was in a similar situation and then decided to sign the contract to come back. Bird decided not to when the contract was given to him. Clubs allowing players to take opportunities elsewhere is seen as a negative by supporters but if you were a player in the same situation, that’s what you’d be looking for from a club and clubs do better business by looking at players and their situations.

Sele is no loss IMO, he’s had enough chances to cement a bench spot and has been underwhelming each time, lacking any urgency or intensity in his game - we already have enough of those type pretending to be first graders.
The others however haven’t had a chance so I don’t blame them for seeking a chance elsewhere...

This is worse than the 75 grand final for me. We were outclassed then. We had Tatana, they had Beetson. They had Ron Coote, we had Lindsey Drake. We had Langland's and Smith at the end of their careers, they had Johnny Mayes and Ian Schubert at their best. Our coach - Langland's. Theirs - Jack Gibson. As a team, they were better than us. We coulda shoulda done better, but at their best that Roosters side was always going to win.

Yesterday was different. We had everything to play for, yet the team showed nothing. Nighty's last game, Lance Thompson's memorial game, and yet we showed nothing.
