Alot of members on this forum have been claiming that I have been to pessimistic about the clubs chances

The last two days have shown why i have no faith in the future of this club

We are dying a slow death

Geez, we all get pessimistic on here from time to time but not ALL the time like you Rig. Best you follow someone else if you feel this bad about the club.

Latest rumor doing the rounds is that now Folau is gone the Dragons are chasing this chap . O.k the poor sod may have a head on him like a crap-apple , but apparently he has the footy smarts required to make a huge difference to our back line .

I hear he's available next season after he finishes his commitments at Souths but l'm happy with Hook as l go to print.

I’m worried that the whole debacle in regards to Israel Folau may cause any players to potentially rethink a move to St George
I doubt it will too much but might make a few of our younger players vying for left centre start to look elsewhere and a few journeyman lick their lips knowing how desperate we are.

Like any news cycle, this will fade.
It's not like we were on the list for potential stars.

It's what we do on the field in 21 that counts for seasons ahead.
I remember Millward stating 2021 was our big year. A heap of money in the bank and a chance to buy a heap of players to have a full tilt 2022/23. Hasn’t quite worked out but I hope we still punch above our weight and make a few players start to notice. This is one of the main reasons I want McInnes to sign early with the gummies. If we win a few against the odds a lot will be put down to him. But if we can fight hard without him it really helps us build a solid base that a few nice signings mid year or next year could really be icing on the cake.

Im not expecting much this season to be honest mate.

I agree with your sentiment overall. I just want to see some path to us being competitive. Hook has 2 years to show progress in retention, performance and ultimately some recruitment.

Nor am I, I am just hoping we kind of build similar to how Newcastle did. Relied on local juniors for a period, got some good time out of them and made a few astute buys particularly Ponga. Next thing they have no trouble whatsoever buying players including our own Friz. They share a lot of parallels with us. Small coastal town, a lot of local juniors but we have a better coach than Brown, and some exciting juniors ourselves that mean its unlikely we will have to pay overs for a Ponga type player. For me we need a big fish like Angus Crichton that could attract a few others.

I may be in the minority, but I believe this week has not damaged Saints or the game of Rugby League at all. We are currently in the middle of the cricket season with the final of the big bash coming up and apparently soccer is being played somewhere as well, and all media focus has been on Rugby League. I also feel that most of the news coverage has been relatively balanced.

I love how all the Mary fan club in the media are now piling crap on the club.
Geez I hope Hook and his team show the “journalists” up this year.
We are specials to improve drastically - there’s a marked difference in attitude this year from the CEO to the players to the coach all maligned and wounded and dying to prove everyone wrong ...

Folou is not coming so why would left centre candidates look elsewhere ?
Because in Feagai’s view maybe he feels he is not the future in Hooks eyes given that he has probably put in a solid off season, finished last year strong and probably felt he would be a fair shot at retaining his place in the side and we go looking at a washed up bloke surrounded in controversy that isn’t setting the super league on fire and hasn’t played nrl for years. If another team come knocking he might consider a switch if they promise a starting spot.
