These days, the Storm and Penrith are very well-managed clubs. No matter who is out, they both seem to have first-grade ready replacements.

Howe they both fit so many good players under the salary cap is astounding. I'd love for the Saints to have some of whatever these two clubs have.
Have a look at both their front office people. They are the standard of how to operate a very successful admin team in the NRL. With the juniors in the Illawarra I don't understand why the Dragons don't have an elite academy set up in the Illawarra like Panthers. And then look at the Storm and cross code training with the NZ rugby team the Crusaders, Dragons need to start looking outside the box and get creative. Never heard of and Dragons Admin or coaching staff travelling overseas in the offseason to look at other sporting organisations to get better,

Winning starts on Monday in the front office !!!!

No.. Mary went overses to the states in the 2019 off season but it was too late and the wrong coach
We have started an academy last year, it is in its infancy, just not as big and as advanced as the Panthers one yet
We have taken our time I agree but we are heading there... slowly?

Didn't we start to promote ourselves in one of the pacific islands about 5 or 6 years ago through a ex player ? What became of that ?

Poor Brownie will have nightmares and 70 odd scorelines against the Storm
In saying that we play them after the Tigers
Are the Storm really that good or are the Warriors really that bad. That type of score line is embarrassing to a supposedly professional competition where all teams supposedly have the same salary cap to spend, plus the magical TPA. The NRL should have the alarm bells ringing after that effort.

Alarm bells for sure. This shows a significant imbalance between the top tier teams and the bottom teams which we have already discussed and a thorough investigation needs to be implemented as soon as possible. Games like the Storm v Warriors should not happen when the score blows out that much. Salary Crap, TPA's, Draft, Points System, something needs to be done.

No the answer is both and these one offs happen from time to time. Manly did it last year
The only alarm bells should be for the coach and some of the outside backs as per Brownie
I dare say club management, owners and sponsors will watch the next game intently
lets wait till we play them down there in 2 weeks time.
Our record down there is not flattering

Rule changes as well I believe DD. Players can’t compete anymore for the football like you could in the past. No contest in the scrums, or the play the balls, no stripping. No more wining against the odds with a man down or against a lopsided penalties count. The game’s rules are so TV sanitised that one side gets momentum…. blow out.!
The tough one-on-one tacklers are gone as they are on the ground they’re deemed a liability), no wonderful ball distributors (another risk liability) as possession is everything. Players then accidentally tackle high, get sin binned (apart from Easts) ……..to slow the game down and good night Irene!
These elements or factors mentioned used to be great levellers over the years to the lesser side. That’s why penalties are so sacred because only time you can get the bloody ball back. Games poorer for it imo.

The players themselves probably are hampered so much with the rules that they become too scared to try and do something out of the ordinary. All it takes is for a team to make a mistake early in a game and the other team takes advantage and scores and as you say, that side then has the momentum to keep scoring. You take the Manly v Cronulla game last Thursday -Cherry-Evans makes a meal from the kick off and is tackled in goal. Subsequently the Sharks immediately score and score several more before half time - the Sea Eagles fought back in the second half but the damage had already been done in the first half.

Fighting for the ball is the key and those days when you could win the scrum against the feed, reef the ball back when the opposition is playing the ball, etc. all changed now of course and it is all about possession - the more you have the ball, the more of a chance you will score and win the game. We did well on Anzac Day and we need to continue to do this and hold on to the ball as much as possible for us to have any chance of a resurgence this year.

Good points.
If you run down the the Play by Play stats for a game on NRL.com it's quite clear how momentum can change and how many tries are scored after a penalty / six again or an error in your own red zone. Completing your sets and not giving the opposition a leg up is crucial - says Captain Obvious but it's true and our last 2 games have seen a marked improvement in completions and better discipline to get us the win. Our defence still needs work.
Last weeks reserve grade match against the Bears saw us score two tries to Kerr and Ford in the opening 5 minutes after 2 penalties and a six again, then the momentum switches when we make a couple of errors.
We did well in that game actually, handing the Bears their first loss of the season with a good completion rate and great defence.

In real estate they say Location, Location, Location.
In Rugby League it’s Completion, Completion, Completion.

Possession wins in today’s version of Rugby League.

Saints we’re gassed and did tremendously well to hold on in the last 20. I’m sure if they had all 17 available they would not have played like that at the backend
redv13
everything would have been different with 17 fit players - defence replacement strategy macca having a break etc ,,, but surely the boys have taken a lot out of that game and should have belief in them selves but we must beat the tigers to keep momentum up
