Is it set in stone that Flanagan is bringing his boy with him. All notices I have read of junior are negative and his stats dont exactly say pick me. On the other hand, Jamal Fogarty stats are far more enticing specially his running and organization..
Not yet to Point 1 nor even mentioned by Flanno Snr, everyone is deducing this
Fogarty does not excite me at 7 either especially when Titans did not want him and Raiders dont fight to keep him especially losing Wighton and reportedly were interested in Hunt.
What does that tell you

Good cheap depth signings have become a synonym for marquee signing for us.

I bet he wouldn’t accept 180k to play for us. Was touted as a junior that was going to be our superstar half 10 years ago. I can see him with something to contribute but feels a bit like the Mbye signing which was doomed to fail.
Probably the point I was trying to make.
Throw an average player in a good squad and the excell, throw them in an average squad and they remain average.

Then renew their interest in Hunt please. Where do you see the Fogarty failings as his stats tell a different story. I was making a judgement over my preference between Flanagan and Fogarty. Frankly I'd back our current 5/8 and take a punt on several talented junior halves coming thru our pathways.

100%

Reckon we have tried to make some signings in last few seasons eg Hynes, Kikau, Folau, Tino etc but unable to land anyone and left with the dregs who can’t change the fortunes of a team.

Fogarty would be a good buy but not if Saints still have Hunt. I feel Fogarty probably is more the type of player Saints need (someone who can close a game that is) but having 2 No.7's is not the answer. Unfortunately Saints are stuck with Hunt but with Flanno hopefully he can get him to improve his game when it comes to closing them down to hold onto a win.

I can't believe Fogarty is 29. By the time he is available in 2025 he will be 31. He was a late bloomer that is for sure as I only just noticed him the last couple of seasons. I rate him as a quality halfback. Raiders will hang on to him for sure.

Agree. I dont rely on stats. Too many people do these days. It is how stats are built is the problem. It means your looking at paper and not the game...hence the stupid phrase they use adnauseum.."eyes up footy".
But its true + the fact 2 if Canberra do the same not so strong clubs have not fought hard to retain Fogarty? tells me everything. Flanno Jnr falls also into that category as a half.

We will see what the Raiders do there. Maybe his manager is bumping his price way up?. I see Fogarty around the fringe or just outside 8 of halfback quality in the comp along with Hunt. I rank Hunt 8th and Fogarty 9 or 10 no 7's in the game. That can change week to week or depending on form

I dont like it when players announce they are testing the market. To me that means i'll get a lesser club to offer me more than I'm worth, so I can stay at the current club for more money and gouge them even further. Haas, Tino , Fafita, Manu they all do it, it's a classic managers move, either way they get more money and screw a club over.

I’d have Amone 6 and Fogarty 7. Hunt can do what he likes as far as I am concerned but the coach don’t see it that way.
I agree.

For all the shit canning of Amone I have actually seen some positive improvement in him and firmly believe a good organising 7 will see Amone blossom.

People keep waxing lyrical about Sloan in attack and seem to be oblivious to some of the silky work Amone does without a proper 7 and behind an inferior pack.

Indeed his defence is poor but his body shape is much more adept to being more physical than Sloan's will ever be.

So you are talking of someone to partner Hunt, I am as a Hunt replacement. Amone is improving his all round game so I say persevere with him if he beats this attempted assault charge.
Lol Amone improving? Dead set average player and he’s had 2 years of first grade now. We’ve gone from Soward to Widdop - both exceptional 5/8’s - to Norman to Amone. I honestly couldn’t tell you which of Norman or Amone was better. Actually I know. At least Norman could kick a field goal.

True, so what participating clubs should do is put in lowball offers and teach these boofheads a lesson
