Dogs have bought big guns Kikau, Ado Carr, Crichton, Burton and quality with Reed Mahoney. Some of the others don’t excite me much. Still on paper there’s plenty of talent for Ciraldo.
Kikau is great, no denying.
Addo Carr - a lot of money spent on a winger who wanted fullback money
Crichton - a lot of money spent on a centre who might play fullback. (Hasn't shown much in his few games at FB for the Panthers)
Burton - a lot of money spent on a centre trying to play as a 5/8
Mahoney - a lot of money for a pretty one-dimensional dummy-half. Great pass, best in the game. But otherwise, meh.
The rest of their Money has gone to players who have never nailed down any single position.
I feel like the Bulldogs are buying talented players without any real vision of what the team will look like in the future. I don't see a long term strategy.
While the Dragons haven't been able to nail down any of the big names we would have liked, still hoping for AFB and Dearden. But I can see the makings of a team to build around.
The Couchmans signed to 2025
Loko Tonga signed to 2026
Dylan Egan signed to 2026
Hamish Stewart signed to 2026
Finau Latu signed to a top 30 contract
Sione Finau and Savelio Tamale signed on to top 30
Then we have guys like Ben Johnson, Hayden Buchanan, Ben Rumble and Lhykan King-Togia who will be competing for top 30 positions in the future.
There is a future within the club that needs a coach to nurture it, and I believe Flanno is that coach.
R&R just need to focus on the Spine. Dearden would be a good start.
Ten years ago, Flanno took this team to 5th on the ladder... I think we have just as much if not more talent. Just got to get everyone on the same song sheet playing for each other.
