I think they are freeing up cash to get AFB.
Well, seeing that AFB can only go to a Sydney club as one of the conditions for the Warriors to release him from his contract, he can pick and choose several who can provide him with the best deal and the Warriors might want a player swap for him. Playing several clubs against each other and the same could apply to Tracey.

We need to do our utmost best to get someone who might help our cause the way that Flanagan wants the squad to be but it isn't the best thing if a player looks for better deals rather than wanting to join and be happy to be at the Dragons on a not as good a deal.

I can see someone like the tigers offering a swap deal for AFB. Possibly Papali'i for AFB? Imo Warriors are in a win now mode while SJ is still producing at a high level, so they would prefer to get rep players in return for letting AFB leave earlier. They also have a few players coming off contract at the end of 2024 & 2025.

I noticed Jackson Ford is off-contract at the end of 2024. I would like for us to go after him to fill our 2rf void. If we aren't able to get AFB then I wouldn't mind us trying to get stefano utoikamanu for 2025.

2024 is about figuring out which current players can play a serviceable role in future years, figuring out a winning style & players who fit that style.

Dogs have bought big guns Kikau, Ado Carr, Crichton, Burton and quality with Reed Mahoney. Some of the others don’t excite me much. Still on paper there’s plenty of talent for Ciraldo.
Kikau is great, no denying.

Addo Carr - a lot of money spent on a winger who wanted fullback money

Crichton - a lot of money spent on a centre who might play fullback. (Hasn't shown much in his few games at FB for the Panthers)

Burton - a lot of money spent on a centre trying to play as a 5/8

Mahoney - a lot of money for a pretty one-dimensional dummy-half. Great pass, best in the game. But otherwise, meh.

The rest of their Money has gone to players who have never nailed down any single position.

I feel like the Bulldogs are buying talented players without any real vision of what the team will look like in the future. I don't see a long term strategy.

While the Dragons haven't been able to nail down any of the big names we would have liked, still hoping for AFB and Dearden. But I can see the makings of a team to build around.

The Couchmans signed to 2025
Loko Tonga signed to 2026
Dylan Egan signed to 2026
Hamish Stewart signed to 2026
Finau Latu signed to a top 30 contract
Sione Finau and Savelio Tamale signed on to top 30

Then we have guys like Ben Johnson, Hayden Buchanan, Ben Rumble and Lhykan King-Togia who will be competing for top 30 positions in the future.

There is a future within the club that needs a coach to nurture it, and I believe Flanno is that coach.

R&R just need to focus on the Spine. Dearden would be a good start.

Ten years ago, Flanno took this team to 5th on the ladder... I think we have just as much if not more talent. Just got to get everyone on the same song sheet playing for each other.

1 Michael Gordon
2 Jonathan Wright
3 Ricky Leutele
4 Matthew Wright
5 Beau Ryan
6 Todd Carney
7 Jeff Robson
8 Andrew Fifita
9 Isaac De Gois
10 Ben Ross
11 Luke Lewis
12 Wade Graham
13 Paul Gallen (c)

Interchange
14 Chris Heighington
15 Jon Green
16 John Morris
17 Anthony Tupou

I would be happy if Flanagan can get us to 5th spot next year BDS.

The Dragons desperately need AFB for 2024 so, let's get this done.

I am not ashamed to say that my eyes are now shot. I have 3% vision and 5% field tunnel in my left and no vision in my right eye. I listen to other forum members' posts using the read-aloud function in Windows.

I contracted a disease soon after being born at Buli Hospital. This disease is called pinks disease; a sporadic disease in Australia. It was carried by a lady from England who was giving birth at the same time as my mum, in the same ward. Babies had bright pink skin on their hands and feet, thus the name Pinks disease.

The remedy at the time was for the baby to be given a special medicine that over a week or so, returned the baby's skin to normal colour however, all babies who contracted the disease at Buli Hospital in June 1954 ended up with this same eye complaint which was a result of the medical treatment to return the hands and feet to normal colour.

A black background with blue text helps me write my posts and as I stated above I use read-aloud to listen to your text.

I have followed the Dragons all my life but rarely go to the game anymore as I can't see any action. At home, I have a huge TV and computer screen and you would certainly laugh out loud if you saw me with my nose right up next to the screen and moving my head around the screen trying to catch some of the action.

I have 5 kids and 5 grandkids with another on the way. On fathers day we play Beep Cricket together.

For the past 9 years I have been the President of a charity named Blind Bats Inc. https://blindbats.org/ and invented the game of Beep Cricket and yes also invented a beeping cricket ball for the game.

Although 69 years of age, I play Beep Cricket every Sunday. This is a very popular All-Ability game with players who have a variety of abilities.

Well there now, the secret is out!

Forum wouldn't be the same without you mate.

You are Saints through and through. Anyone on here longer than a few years knows that.

Swap them for AFB, give the Warriors Hunt as well.

Then buy some good replacements.

1. Tracey
2. Best winger in the off season
3. Suli
4. Lomax
5. Ravalawa
6. Deardon
7. K Flannagan
8. AFB
9. New Hooker
10. F Molo
11. Couchman
12. Su'A
13. Debelin

14. Liddle
15. Lawrie
16. Sele
17. M Molo

I believe coach Flannagan could work wonders with this list of players. For me it is top 4 material.

I was also born in Bulli Hospital in June of 54. Luckily I don't suffer from the condition. I always look forward to your comments & hope you can contribute for many years to come. It's very brave of you to speak about your health issues. Wish you all the best mate

You sound like a salt of the earth Aussie Possm- well done for sharing with us about the medical condition- I for one, (and I have a pretty strong medical background) had not heard of pinks disease- but even better your thinking of others by way of your work with the charity. On behalf of the Dragon Army on this forum, I salute you.
