The run home.

I wonder whether there is any real benefit in the long run to finishing 4th over 5th/6th.

Sure, we get a second bite, but we'd need it, as I don't think anyone expects us to head to Melbourne and win.. and what does that do to our confidence, first finals game in 8 years are potentially get smashed, heads drop and we go into the semi's against a team like the Panthers or Sharks high on confidence after a first week finals win.

Imo we are better off finishing 5th/6th and playing at home, and then taking the confidence of a finals win forward
I haven't looked at the stats but with the top four getting a second chance, and the top two playing at home, I think it's a decent advantage.

We can still finish anywhere from 2nd through to 10th, though to finish 2nd or 3rd relies on a shitload of very unlikely results going our way

1 win will see us as high as 6th but more likely 8th, 2 wins has us as high as 4th but more likely 6th, 3 wins has us likely 4th or 5th.

0 wins we could still make the eight, but probs 9th

If we don't win another game, then we simply don't deserve to play in the semi's.

Yeah probably not, but then of the teams likely to scrape into 7th/8th which ones do?

For us to miss out, it's gonna be a combination of three or four of Cowboys / Dragons / Penrith / Raiders? / Manly that push us out.

What I mean is in terms of deserving your spot, 7th or 8th is likely to be taken up by any of the above teams that have have all been poor for a period this year or at best inconsistent, does it really matter when that period was?

Every single one of those sides will have a positive for and against. If we don't win another game we definitely won't and may not even have a positive for and against if we won all three. Over the course of a season of football this is probably a good indicator of who has played better all season.

But, if we win wore games than 8 other sides, then we clearly did enough to be there.

Our poor F&A is more indicative that we are prone to shit the bed every now and then, rather than an indicator of how we've gone all season.

It's all part of the season though isn't it, the good with the bad. It should even itself out over the course of a season. Perhaps we can spank the Titans and Souths to improve our For and Against.

Back on the ladder predictor, and after last nights win we can still theoretically finish in 9th, requires a series of unlikely results, however if any of the Broncos, Raiders or Dogs win this weekend, we are guaranteed a finals berth.
