Eels Deal .. Shane Shackleton
The Pirtek Parramatta Eels are pleased to announce the signing of Sydney Roosters forward Shane Shackleton for the 2010, 2011 & 2012 seasons.
A City Origin representative in 2009, Shackleton has played 53 first grade games for the Roosters since his debut against the Brisbane Broncos in round 25 of 2005.
The 106kg, 188cm 26 year old is primarily a second rower, however he is also experienced at lock or prop forward.
Eels head coach Daniel Anderson said he’s very pleased to have recruited a player of Shackleton’s quality.
“We’re obviously very happy to have Shane on board for 2010 and beyond,” Anderson said.
“He broke through for his first representative jumper this year and he’ll certainly add some versatility and variety to our pack.
“What’s more we feel we’ve got a quality person, not just a quality player.”
Acting Eels Chief Executive Andrew Hill said the signing of Shackleton is a vote of confidence in the team and the Club and the direction in which both are heading.
“We’re looking forward to Shane strengthening our team on and off the paddock,” Hill said.
“It’s important for the Club to be able to attract players of Shane’s calibre. We also look forward to continuing negotiations with other players for season 2010.”
