I can't agree with that. You cannot afford to have such a long term plan without results. Fans will walk, sponsors will walk, and the club will cease to exist because of that.

Have to chose my wording more carefully, 10 years is no where near fathamable.

What i was trying to point out is that he signed a 3 year deal with a 5 year plan (is what we are hearing). If this is the case then he should be given the full duration of the 3 years regardless. Taking this into account you would think that SK would have hoped to have seen continued grit and effort on the field (hasn't turned out that way), with the vision of letting go of a few players and signing a few up for 2013, where results would then dictate whether he received an extension or not.

To date this season has gone pear shaped, and quite rightly everyone at the club from players to the board are searching for answers.

IMO confidence is the key, if we put in and really take manly on for the full 80 minutes win or lose, we will go along way to getting ourselves out of this bad patch. However if we put in another performance like the last fortnight, then even the most die hard eel fans will start to question where to from here.

Not sure if this has been brought up or not. I know that players have said they all like Kearney and support him 100%. My question though, are the players at all fearful of him?

What I mean is that when we put in an inept performance, are the players worried about the half time or full time talk? Take some of the other coaches, I presume some players would hate walking into the locker room at half time knowing what was about to come. If Melbourne gave a performance like we did, I wouldn't think too many players would be looking forward to the half time talk and I presume alot of other coaches in the NRL have that somewhat fear factor that it seems Kearney lacks. At the moment if we fail on the field, it seems like their is nothing to fear in the change room.

Is the coach abit too chummy with the players?

These are professional rugby league players mate - they get physically bashed for a living and before that did it for fun as kids. They're hardly going to be scared of a few harsh words, no matter who it's from.

Fear of being dropped or having your next contract devalued or even having your reputation diminished in the eyes of the other players are legitimate fears they all might have but a scolding? Most of these blokes would laugh when Bellamy and the other screamers go off only they have to show respect to keep their place in the team.

There was a rumour that Knights players were upset when Buderus went off at them in the sheds after the Broncos game. It may be that players are a bit precious sometimes, a lot don't respond well to even the smallest criticism.

PLayers always say they are behind the coach, particularly in the media. It means nothing - it is not like they are going to say 'yeah, I don't support him'. This 'player support' thing means nothing - if you are unhappy with the coach behind the scenes, you usually get dropped which means less money, harder to get a contract elsewhere.

Gen Y has little, if any accountability.

I'm a part of Gen Y and I can't stand it.

Bunch of merkins need to grow some. It's actually concerning that the majority of people in my generation have NFI.

They all need some tough love and life experience to show them what it's all really about.

P.S. I've always really wanted to use the word "merkins" and finally did just then. :p

Smith and Moimoi were here as well. Plenty of the players from 2005 were still here through the Hagan era as well.

This group of players has evolved since 2005 to include a lot of players that were here for the ousting of one coach or another - there were rumours that Mateo wasn't happy with Anderson and so on. Hayne has been in first grade since '06. There's even a few who arrived in 2010 that might not have liked Anderson and now have a problem with Kearney.

So you seriously believe that Ben Smith, Fui Fui Moi Moi, Nathan Hindmarsh, Jarryd Hayne and Luke Burt are at the core of a player revolt - or, at the very least, a culture that is 'soft' and 'doesn`t try'? Do you actually watch the games? Have you ever seen a player who tries harder than Hindmarsh, Smith, Moi Moi or Hayne? These guys and Tim Mannah carry this f**king side, mate. And these players have also banded together to get rid of Hagan and Anderson and now Kearny?
f**k. It doesn`t even deserve a comment.

I agree, some times I wish I was Gen X so I don't get associated with merkins in Gen Y.

I understand that in the crisis meeting today, Bob Bentley lowered Stephen Kearney`s KPI`s by a further 25 basis points; meaning that a 0-4 start to the season is now looking pretty satisfactory, and a place in the bottom four should be very achievable. Everyone is happy and we can look forward to a long year. Go Sydney F.C.

Well...

I agree with Parra Pride sometimes I can't stand some of Gen Y.

Two players my age in my local side, good players, walked off the field last year because they didn't touch the ball enough times. One player who is only 19 wants to leave the club because he didn't get picked for firsts last week. Another actually did leave after our captain told him to pull his finger out at training. Obviously not the same as NRL but the attitude still applies. So many crybabies around.

It always used to be if you got dropped you go out the next week and prove why you should not have been dropped. If the coach or captain yells at you you go out and don't let them down, not whinge about it.

I also agree with lingard 100%

This Gen X / Gen Y stuff doesn't phase me. The dickheads of every 'generation' manage to find a way to make themselves standout . If some marketers put these collective titles on them it doesn't really change things much. We notice the people who piss us off a lot more than those who are less objectionable.
