There's no both ways. Just having the coach not do a hype/spin article at all would be a better option, than him ending up looking like more of a goose.

There are people who've been crying out for MORE feedback from the coach and club. If he simply pulled down the shutters then he'd get blasted for not talking. Can't win either way

they should off the heritage round jerseys and hayne said he would be playing this week. there is a ground inspection at 3pm but no mention of the meeting between Bob Bentley and Stephen Kearney.

agree 100% and our recent performances need to be addressed and quickly. However i was just outlining how in this instance the owners and board stuck by their guns through very poor times, because he had a plan.

He then took the side to a 14-14-14 in the first year and finished second in his second year, I can't see our coach putting in that performance at the moment.

Now whether it is a 3,5 or 10 year plan is irrelevant, when you hire someone on terms and conditions, KPI's or even on a vision or plan, that person should be given the full duration of their contract to execute and deliver.

Maybe but there is always the option to fire someone for cause. You can fire someone for not executing their duties, or indeed complete lack of ability to meet their objectives.

But hey we are not on the inside, the performances are distressing, the reports are distressing, looks like we as fans are going to have to wait it out.

Not sure if this has been brought up or not. I know that players have said they all like Kearney and support him 100%. My question though, are the players at all fearful of him?

What I mean is that when we put in an inept performance, are the players worried about the half time or full time talk? Take some of the other coaches, I presume some players would hate walking into the locker room at half time knowing what was about to come. If Melbourne gave a performance like we did, I wouldn't think too many players would be looking forward to the half time talk and I presume alot of other coaches in the NRL have that somewhat fear factor that it seems Kearney lacks. At the moment if we fail on the field, it seems like their is nothing to fear in the change room.

Is the coach abit too chummy with the players?

Not sure if they're chummy with him, but you raise a valid issue. Are they afraid of him is more the point. That's a hard one. My gut feeling would be no. Does he command respect? My gut feeling would be yes. Is this enough? I don't know.

I just dropped over to the "other site", to see if it was just people here that were 50% upset with Kearney's performance. Whoah, there's some really harsh opinions about SK on that site!

On a lighter note, someone's started doing those viral/quote/image thingies with SK... These were probably the best from the other site's thread, apparently you can re-caption and make your own: http://memegenerator.net/instance/16902787

*** second one's link couldn't make it appear in the thread ***
It said "Gotta be patient... it's all about rebuilding"

Sandow won't quit on Eels

PRIZE Parramatta recruit Chris Sandow has pledged his commitment to the club despite the Eels' 0-4 horror start to the season.
After inking a four-year $2.2 million deal to join Parramatta, Sandow was seen as the high-profile playmaker capable of piloting the club into the play-offs.
Four games into the season, the Eels had to endure having 50 cent coins hurled on Parramatta Stadium after another inept display.
The Sunday Telegraph has been told Eels coach Stephen Kearney was stunned silent in the dressing room after the loss, simply asking the playing group to tell him what was wrong.
"It's not the coach, it's the players. We have to start turning up for each other," Sandow said.
"We have to come together as a group. We've been talking about it for a while.
"We are new as a team so we are still building - hopefully things will start coming sooner rather than later."

Asked if he'd been hit by any of the coins some members of the blue and gold supporter army had pelted, Sandow said: "No, I would have picked them up otherwise."
Eels prop Justin Poore admitted Parramatta fans had a right to be frustrated.
"I go home and I've got little kids saying what's wrong with you guys? What do you do - it's life, we've just got to dig ourselves out of it," Poore said.
"At the moment it's not a good place to be and everybody's disappointed but what do you do?
"It's tough. No one likes copping criticism but we deserve it and you've got to cop it on the chin.
"As I've said before we're the only ones who can fix the problem. We've got to go back to the drawing board.
"I don't have an answer, we just have to keep trying and be patient as a playing group."
Poore said coach Kearney had the full support of the Eels playing roster.

Maybe he has no answers. Maybe they are not responding to him. Maybe there is internal division amongst the players. Who'd f**king know?
I'm guessing that all of us know nothing, except what is speculated.
What we all DO know, is that something just ain't right atm.

There's not much point yelling at them after the game. If you are going to yell and scream, may as well do it at half time whem it might have an effect.

My wife had a converstaion with an ex player who played under Jack Gibson. Apparently sometimes Jack didn't say a word at half time, he was that disappointed in his players. Sometimes he wasn't even there! They knew they had upset him, and so wanted to lift their game. Many players respected Jack like they would their fathers.

Maybe they need to sit down and watch 'Remember The Titans' together... Denzel Washington sure can deliver a pep talk.

I also like the poem that Wayne Bennett talks about..

pelf is another word for wealth, riches etc.

The Guy in the Glass

by Dale Wimbrow, (c) 1934

When you get what you want in your struggle for pelf,

And the world makes you King for a day,

Then go to the mirror and look at yourself,

And see what that guy has to say.

For it isn't your Father, or Mother, or Wife,

Who judgement upon you must pass.

The feller whose verdict counts most in your life

Is the guy staring back from the glass.

He's the feller to please, never mind all the rest,

For he's with you clear up to the end,

And you've passed your most dangerous, difficult test

If the guy in the glass is your friend.

You may be like Jack Horner and "chisel" a plum,

And think you're a wonderful guy,

But the man in the glass says you're only a bum

If you can't look him straight in the eye.

You can fool the whole world down the pathway of years,

And get pats on the back as you pass,

But your final reward will be heartaches and tears

If you've cheated the guy in the glass.

realistically what will this achieve, besides putting him on notice the board and CEO don't have the football experience. As Steve sharp says we need to look at the corporate structure to have more football experience overseeing the NRL side.

The board have inflamed the fan anger by talking extension etc when the fans have not seen anything from Kearney to warrant the blind faith they are showing.

Good point. That certainly hasn't helped the issue those public comments. Fans have an expectation. Running a football club would be a lot different to running an everyday business so you need those with knowledge in that field to be having input.

I can't agree with that. You cannot afford to have such a long term plan without results. Fans will walk, sponsors will walk, and the club will cease to exist because of that.

 Gotta pay that SDM.

But obviously, like every single Eels fan, I'd just rather the side competes week to week and wins its share of games.

And if the Board sadly have to change a(nother) coach (and pay out another $450K) to get that happening again, then so be it. *shrugs*
