I'm not making any excuses for Kearney at all.
Just pointing out that there is an Origin standard player that Kearney purchased not on the books yet.

Suity
origin standard when he left the game, we will see what standard he is when he gets back.

Well there you go lads.

Suity has come up with 2 years of excuses for SK if failure keeps on occurring.

I believe congratulations are in order

In 2 years time when hopa comes, I dare say we will be in another rebuilding phase. Hard to always have the team u want.

firstly no matter what happens we should see out his contract.

Depending on performances this year it will determine if he should have his contract extended early. A top 4 finish, would be enough to go early.

If we finish mid field we should evaluate early to mid season next year to determine our future regarding coaching.

If we are in the bottom of the pack , a review should be held at the end of the season and also take into consideration who will be available for 2014. With the final decision made mid season 2013.

Bellamy still has a lot to prove with a legal side and is not the bench mark.
As structure is important, having somebody like Smith in a coaching directors role with a rookie coach may be a could alternative.

That all sounds very fair and sensible to me.

You need to take into account certain factors which aren't reflected solely in the place on the ladder:
Team and club culture and harmony; improvement of areas and weakness; future planning; retention and development strategies and the like.

Personally I think that things look promising in that regard.

I don't think he'd have missed the kicks Sandow did...and 12-0 is a huge difference over 8-0. And if you seriously think he'd have done worse than Esi in defence OR attack you've got rocks in your head, but that wouldn't shock me...

Anyway, that said on form I'd give Mullaney the crack next week, with Morgan replacing Esi. There's no way Burt should have been dropped but he has been and Mullaney outperformed him

No offence chief but to base a comparison on 2 missed conversions from the sideline is ludicrous. The best kickers in the world miss them from there at times. So to say that you think he wouldn't have missed those kicks is not a credible argument

So how much time would you give us as a club to turn it around. One more year, two, three. How long ?

That is a good question. Not just for the eels, but for any side in a top level pro sport.

For on-field results how far can a coach or club/owner look ahead?

I'd say two years is about it.

Bennett did it with Saints, lets see what he does at Newcastle and watch what Hasler does with Canterbury. Anderson did it with Auckland, then St Helens and then Parra. All in that two year window.

Long term vision might be important when it comes to off field organisational issues, but on field results can now be achieved in two years and so that is the timeframe.

You keep focusing on the negatives. I'll look on the bright side for our future.

Suity

How does saying always hard to have the team u want sound negative to you??????

I would be ecstatic if someone could tell me how Geoff Toovey comes in for Manly and they have not missed a beat with all the uproar over the season, granted he has been at Manly for a while, at the same time Kearney is a World Cup "winning" coach and was mentored by Bellamy, can someone please tell me whenwas the last game we won, before our Titans win, yes were much improved on Monday night as I was there though felt it was a game the warriors always were going to win, because of our mental floors (weak), by the way guys I am a season ticket holder and love this club, personally even this early in the piece I dont thik Kearney is the right person, cheers.

Are you forgetting the hard times they had when hasler first started? What about the processes he went through to build them to what they are today? How about the fact that their top quality team has played together for years?

i guess those factors are comparable to a coach who is in his 2nd year taking over the reins of a rabble. I guess the fact that toovey was a major part of their set up already didnt play a part either?

Kearney has won 6 from 26 as a head coach in the NRL... stop ignoring all these positives!

He has a plan... just needs more time.

Correct. SIR alex ferguson took 7 years to get that illusive league title. Now he is regarded the greatest manager of any sport of all time . . .

Imagine if the board caved in to the countless threats and abuse by fans? would united be where they are today? Debatable . . . but hard to see it happening.

Out of our 6 wins last year we also won them all by 6 points or less. With a couple being last minute. So while you think we were unlucky we were also lucky we werent only 2 from last year. It goes both ways.

A few years ago the sharks lost 12 games by 4 points or less but no one spoke about how unlucky they were. Everyone just laughed at how crap the played so you have to look at it both ways & kearney's record says he has only 6 winms from 26 attempts. Yet the pr machine at the eels tells us he is awesome.

We can have all the structures in the world & the best academy but the buck stops with wins & losses.

If we fail to make the 8 this year i expect the blow torch applied very heavily on his coaching strategy. I also expect a external assesment just like they did for mr anderson if our board is really serious

Harsh but true and that is the reality of being a head coach.

However, surely common sense has to prevail and we as fans should compare his reign apples for apples. By that i mean, the guy has signed for 3 years with a massive job to do, yet we are quick to criticise 2 rounds in to his second season? That to me is the joke to come of all these discussions.

Pretty fair assessment!

Hasler in 2004 took over a worse rabble than what SK had. In 2003 Manly had been getting 50 points scored against them quite often. In 2005 his 2nd year, they made the top 8. The rest as they say is history. Lets hope a similar scenario for the eels coming up
