Yeah I was..Everyone is being chased by the Bulldogs

Backpage of tomorrows Tele for sure! :D

LU has been a fantastic source of information and gossip for that sanitary paper before.

Though the dogs have probably given up on parra products this season, I thought they snagged that promising Dragon's Toyota Cup half?

did he play a bit of halfback before he went off too?
the way our 6 and 7 usually play you could easily call either of them halfback.

I think kk plays more of a halfback role than Morts, but they give Morts the 7 jersey... go figure?

I also reckon Humble looked more of a halfback than Morts tonight, and Morts looked like more of a traditional #6.

Humble enjoys winning NRL debut

FORMER Northern Pride player Tom Humble enjoyed a winning start to his NRL career last night when his club Parramatta had a *19-12 triumph over Manly at Brookvale Oval.
The 21-year-old was handed a big-time debut after regular five-eighth Kris Keating was ruled out with an injury.
A nervous-looking Humble had a solid outing, but the star for Parramatta was Jarryd Hayne.
He may have been named on the NSW wing for next week’s State of Origin opener, but a fullback masterclass from Hayne steered the Eels to victory last night.
Hayne was outstanding against the Sea Eagles in an absorbing encounter in front of a raucous Manly home crowd. The reigning Dally M winner set up all three of his side’s tries and was consistently involved in the fourth successive victory for a resurgent Eels.
"I thought our middle of the field was exceptionally strong and we were very, very good for the whole game and took on their big men and did pretty well," Eels coach Daniel Anderson said.
"I thought Haynesy was excellent tonight, his kicking was big and he got us into some good scoring positions. Over the last four weeks he has been getting better and better in doing the tough stuff."
Manly coach Des Hasler lamented his side’s slow start to the game.
"It was a grinding affair. I was disappointed with the way we started both halves and put ourselves under pressure, they came here prepared, had a gameplan and all credit to them, they got the win," he said.
Both coaches had been forced into late changes at five-eighth with Manly’s Kieran Foran and Parramatta’s Keating ruled out with injuries.
Chris Bailey came in for Manly with Anderson handing 21-year-old Humble his debut after joining the Eels in the off-season.
The Eels came racing out of the blocks and opened up an early 12-0 lead with tries scored by Luke Burt and Feleti Mateo.
Manly got themselves back into the game with a try 10 minutes from the interval from Steve Matai, who had earlier been placed on report for a high shot on Humble.
The second half continued the same way with the Eels starting the stronger with only a late tackle from Michael Robertson denying Joel Reddy. This was followed by a piece of brilliance from Jamie Lyon whose miracle tackle denied Humble.
The only worry for the Eels was an apparent ankle injury to Timana Tahu, although he was later cleared.
PARRAMATTA 19 (L Burt F Mateo J Robson tries L Burt 3 goals L Burt field goal) d MANLY 12 (J Lyon S Matai tries J Lyon 2 goals) at Brookvale Oval. Referees: Matt Cecchin, Jared Maxwell. Crowd: 11,023.

Tom did enough last night to show me that he can slot onto KK's role very easy should he choose to jump ship to the dark side.

Just on Morts, I tend to agree with a few posters that he's looking a little lost and frail at times. A kid his size needs to be strong to survive against the big men. Get him on the oids and bulk him up like Orford etc.

TBH I'm starting to worry that we've been caught up in the hype and signed him for overs.

It will be very interesting to see what DA does with Mortimer, KK, MK, Robson and Humble at the backend of the season. I was very impressed with his debut in a tough game.

One thing I am liking is that all the players I mentioned are tough and
can defend well. It is one thing to be great in attack (like Barba, Soward etc.) but also be a liability in defence, but the Eels won't have a problem in that regard.

A couple of games for Humble mid season will do great things for his confidence - he now knows he can cut it in first grade. If he has speed (that was the first time I have seen him play), and good hands, he may be able to pressure Morts, KK, Robson and MK for a permanent first grade spot.

Should have passed on Reddy in field instead of going for the corner

I initially thought that but upon watching it again, I think Lyon also cut off the angle for the pass. Should have been awarded a try anyway.

I thought both Humble and Mortimer were outstanding in defense, and Mortimer's kick chase was great all night.

I thought Humble looked up to it and was pretty good. A very nice debut, his defence was his biggest strength given the conditions last night.

The only disappointment was that i thought he was much quicker and would blitz them to the try line, he seemed slower than what has been reported about him imo.....

I would have him at 1 if KK is back this week, Burt needs to stay on the wing, he is having a super season there and we shouldn't change it if we don't have to!

Thought he was great last night. Head and shoulders above Mortimer.

IMO they should be swapped, Morts should be spending time with Wenty. He is too small, too predictable, and in too much of a slump to be our starting halfback.

It's no surprise that he has received none/very little player votes in the last few weeks on these very forums.

Humble for 7!

Yea, very solid debut for Humble. He looked at home straight away, and got the toughest start with Matai monstering him. He will be very handy through the year with Origins/Injuries and whatnot. Well done Tommy!

Glad to see the young guy played well. A lot of us Cows fans are spewing over the club not signing him.

Doesn't matter though, he'll be back in North QLD where he belongs for 2012...

As I said, the footage is not an accurate gauge on his speed. Also, probably didn't help with the wet conditions.

I don't think he should replace Mortimer, Keating is better at second receiver and Humble doesn't look like a first receiver.

I highly doubt it, by that stage you will be the North Queensland Thurstons....:sarcasm:
