Maybe if Storm fans organised mass call ins before games were suppose to air and flooded the WWOS Facebook for weeks we'd get the same too. League fans are just too lazy.

Channel 9 said if we want the games to be aired at a decent time then people in Melbourne have to watch when it's on.

Melbourne has had good ratings for the SOO games and the last game shown in Melbourne had pretty good ratings for a Sunday.

Then when we face the broncos on a Friday night they decide it isn't worth showing.

Edit:Also the AFL game on was sh*t and only involved one Melbourne team which gets rid of their only other excuse.

Show the game into Vic, WA and SA and we would be pushing over the one million mark. I can see why Ch9 wouldn't want that leading into the TV negotiations!

Was in yesterdays AFR on page 43

Interesting, given that Gallop can't officially negotiate until 1 November, there is a fair chance that the global economy shatting itself is going to play havoc with the price we get for NRL rights. All these lofty ambitions of getting $1b + appear to be quickly fading away in to the realms of pipe dreams

Where to now dudes? Time to rattle the tin again? More Sausage fo shizzles?

If the state of the economy is a driving factor, it would make sense to go with a shorter contract this time and hope the economy recovers in the next couple years.

Just when everything is going well, all it takes is an unprecedented double dip recession to magically come and f*ck rugby league over.

F*ck the networks. Set the price and don't agree on a deal until someone meets the 'reserve'.

Someone will cave in eventually - everyone knows how vital the NRL ratings can be.

exactly

nothing changes except the length of the contract

if TV networks refuse they get nada ..... & lose even more money when no one North of the Murray watches them

They aren't going to the toilets.

Cash is king, and most of the networks have plenty of it.

yep

not the time for retailers to invert into a shell
they need to get out & advertise their merchandise

what better platform then adverts during Australias most watched sport
this equals $$$$$$;-)

AFR just getting us prepped for Fox Sports and 9 to negotiate with themselves again. It'll have f**k all to do with the financial state of affairs.

This.

Sign a two year deal only.

Personally though, I dont think the Stock market crash will have too much impact... its likely to be up again next April when the deal gets finalised...
