I know people say the car park was full & it probably was, but dont forget how busy fitness first gets on a Monday night. Like it has ten times the patronage of the club on a monday night.
Hmmm. Really? There is something in that isnt there.

I ended up not being able to get there.
Been away on the brown lemonades for 4 days, walked in the door at about 5.30pm and the missus says here's the kids I'm outta here.

I did see Macca at Coolangatta airport at about 4.00pm yesterday, he was looking very dusty himself.
Full points if he got there.

well done everyone.

For me, I guess what summed up the night. (and I am paraphrasing here) was when a lady from the Cronulla-Caringbah footy club put forward her case against the proposal and what it would mean to her footy club if the there was a YES vote and she was immediately followed by a young bloke who spoke in support of the proposal who said that if the proposal didn't go ahead, it wouldn't just be a case of the Cronulla-Caringabh side disappearing, it would be a case of the Cronulla Sharks disappearing. It is as simple as that.

It was a good turn out by members, but as a percentage of the total membership of the club, less than 10% of members turned up to vote.

Anyways, there is now a renewed feeling of optimism.

Can't wait for the season to start!

Thats was a good moment the first time...

Then it felt like another 30 ppl getting up to do their own empowering speech!

I was getting annoyed wanting them to just move along and get to the vote.

but it was the right result anyway so who cares.

Yeah I made it mate. I took my missus and daughter down for dinner beforehand. My hangover from 4 days on the piss finally dissipated when Damo declared the resolution passed and the place erupted into outrageous cheering.

Sorry Reefy, I was holed up in a Broadbeach penthouse.

I arrived about 6.20pm and there was a channel ten van with satellite dish atop smack in the centre of the carpark. Gav Miller was being interviewed. I would say the vast majority of vehicles were those of club patrons based on my observations.

after much deliberation....

i have decided that i am happy to buy your club..

i will pay out your debt at $0.001c in the dollar, and this will give me full control over the future of the club.

as your new leader, i promise the following:

- the current board will be sacked, to be replaced by me as supreme ruler and key decision maker
- snowy will stay
- the swamplands will be developed into the 2nd incarnation of australia's wonderland, ensuring revenue guarantees for the next 20 years as a minimum
- a complimentary red v membership for all sharks members
- a statue of quigs to be built outside the entrance to toyota park
- greg bird to be re-instated as a sharks player
- the home uniform to have a subtle change to all white, with a blue v
- lower the drinking age on the hill from 18 to 12, to ensure full crowds at every game
- hotdog madness: free hotdogs to be given away during the 33rd and 38th minute of every game, if the sharks are ahead at that stage of the match
- a "run the club for a day" competition, allowing one lucky punter to be in charge of the club for a day (this also ensures that i can pass off any bad decisions i make onto this "winner")
- shadow boxing luncheons
- booze sessions on tuesday mornings (player and supporter attendance optional)
- three new skipping ropes for the high performance centre

so remember, vote 1 muzby..

don't post much anymore but this is a truly historic occasion. A long time in the making and still plenty of pitfalls to avoid, but the club now has the makings of our financial security firmly within our own hands. Congratulations to everybody involved in getting this through. At last. C'mon the sharks!

Apart from the tinkler hiccup there feels like a lot of positives for the club at the moment. We won the membership challenge. The yes vote today. Hopefully snowy signed up soonish. Now to unearth / develop / recruit some gun halves and outside backs.

how good is this?!

Up up cronulla.

Jack Stewart is a former president of De La Salle, the Junior League and the Leagues Club as well as being a life member of the Sharks. Isobel Purcell is the widow of former Sharks Director Bill Purcell and life member of Cronulla Caringbah. Both have been tireless workers for Rugby League in the Shire. However, whilst I appreciate their point of view, it was obvious such view was contrary to the mood of the meeting.

Jack was pretty funny the way he was schooling Damo, but seriously, he didnt make any sense..... He wanted to revert to the previous boards plan?!

Technically, Jack was correct on protocol, Newman. But it didn't really matter as the mood of the meeting (including myself) wanted the progressive result that the vote produced.

Has the club contacted the Disney Corp about putting Disneyland Australia on our land? THAT would guarentee everything the club ever wanted!!!

SR

youd need more space than what weve got to make it work.

also, does australia have the market to have a disneyland? i mean....asian tourists can always go to tokyo disneyland (if thats still open)

in the mean time what are we doing NOW and in the next 2 years to ensure ourselves?

what are the revenue streams?

maybe something like this?

If the long term is rosier, the short term is fine.
At worst, now we can get NRL advances or bail out packages. At best we are a more attractive organisation to do business with, on many levels.
Having said that, I hate Woolaware. Sell/develop the pharken thing.

if you were to do that, youd go in with the the GVT..maybe the FFA aswell if they were trying to get another team in sydney.

You can't always git what you want,

You can't always git what you want,

But if you try sometime,

You might find,

You git what you need.

(just made that up me-self)
