I've got to say that I found the whole episode a bit frustrating. It had its moments, sure, but when the credits started rolling I was left wondering 'Was that it?'

Where was the showdown between Rick & the Governor we'd been building towards? Where were the major character deaths and the bloodbath that this sequence had been in the comics? Instead we got some cool grenades going off, Glenn & Maggie missing everything they shot at, some smoke grenades, and the Governor killing a bunch of extras while he's right hand men watched on stupidly.

Andrea buying it made the episode worth it for me, but it dragged on forever. They could have spent more time on the prison and less time cutting back to her fumbling around and pausing every ten seconds ot look at Milton. I'm sad to see him go, by the way.

Carl offing a guy was pretty bad-ass, but the whole attack needed more action and more of the characters. I wanted to see Daryl v Hernandez and Rick v Governor.

Not complaining about seeing more Governor next year, although I hope they're not so lazy as to make him the villain for the entire season. Also excited to see how the new show-runner goes. He's written two of my favourite episodes (Clear & 18 Miles Out).

Massive letdown, it started so well but from the time they launched the attack on the prison it went down hill fast. Oh we'll at least that annoying mole Andrea bought it.

I was glad to see Tyreese and his sister make the transition. Maybe Rick can cut him off a slice of dark chocolate until Beth comes of age? I'd love the tension between Carl & Rick if Daddy was banging Carl's crush

Hopefully we start next season with a bang and the Governor launches a second attack. Too many extras wandering around the prison now.

I am thrilled to hear that. You were right on this episode (everyone who actually likes the show's disappointment makes that clear) but your whinging throughout the first half of season three was utter shit and a pain in the ass to see.
On second thought... It does seem to get under your skin so maybe it's worth continuing with that. Time will tell, I guess.

Season 3 was better than season 2, but that's like saying that AIDS is better than aggressive terminal cancer. I'm sure in your mind Glenn Mazzara was fired for absolutely no reason at all, even though we were warned last year that his inability to run a show would become especially evident in the back half of season 3. For mine it was evident throughout all of season 3. There were some good episodes scattered here and there and there were some f**king terrible episodes that were on par with the worst of season 2.

The season 3 finale was worse than anything season 2 offered.

bileduct read my other posts where I said Mazzara was fired for the direction of the 2nd half of season 3. I said I had doubts over the finale since I heard that news and those doubts proved right.

Here:
I had a feeling the last few eps would be let downs since Glen Mazzara was fired after the other producers being disappointed with the ending, as Mazzara wrote this ep. Gimple is now in charge and he wrote the last one and 'Clear' the best ep of the season along with Killer Within. This ep felt more like a mid season finale and wouldn't have been so disappointing if it wasn't the last episode for seven months.

Or you could just ignore that like usual.

Season 3 was better than season 2 and was received well. The first half was the best of the series so far. Killer Within and Clear are the best two eps of the show with Made to Suffer not far behind. The problem with the second half was that it built up to a big showdown that never happened. If it didn't have that build-up it would have been alright. As it stands both episode 4 and 8 are bigger climaxes than the finale and episode 10 was a much better attack on the prison.
If the season was 13 episodes and they condensed episodes 11-16 into 3 would have made a lot of difference. As it was they were dragging it out and it ended up a let down. combining the ep 10 attack with the finale attack would have been better also. Kirkman and the other producers realised where the show went wrong and so fired Mazzara. Gimple seems to know how to make a good episode and should get it back on track.

The good thing about the finale is that it fixed a lot of wrongs that should have been fixed earlier. The prison group is now big, Tyreese is back, Andrea is dead so no more of her shit and some more of the inner character development can now come forward.

I wouldn't have called any episodes terrible. The finale was the worst but if it wasn't a finale it's still decent. Episodes 11, 13 and 14 were average and pointless for a lot of them.

I don't think Rick will go for Sasha, I'd say he'll go for Andrea 2. I'm hoping Karen can become like Comic Andrea. I won't be surprised if Sasha dies early like Tyreese's comic daughter.

Anyway, now that the characters are in the right place and The governor out looking for some fellow murdering assholes I'd say the first half of season 4 will give us the build-up and attack/showdown we deserve. Followed by an on the road second half.

Apparently a different ending for Andrea was filmed where instead of the silly pliers scene Milton was shot once and then attempted to free her and open the door before turning. But he fails and then takes a lot more out of Andrea than what he does. But for some reason they flew the actors back and re-filmed the scene.

Also Tyreese, Sasha and Beth will be upgraded to regular cast. Why Beth and not Carol or Hershel who get much more screen time I have no idea. Anyway, maybe Sasha will be the new Andrea-type character (from the comics) that hopefully doesn't do all the stupid tv show Andrea things.

I'd say he'd have something to do with all the walkers at the prison.

Did anyone see a) Macon on the map and b) the 'sanctuary' radiocast? Alexandria?
