Episodes are always far better without old hag Carol. Govna' probably has her head in a bottle already.

Trying to avoid wasting ammo where possible?

This. Plus, as has been established many times now, a herd can easily be attracted by loud noises such as gunfire. I'd say avoiding it wherever possible is pretty high on their agenda.

With The Governor returning, I see it as a way to show how vulnerable the prison is

Then they should have jimmied up some suppressors for the M4s. They did it easily enough for Carls 9mm

Letting a sea of Walkers build up until the fence collapsed was a bigger risk than attracting more to the prison.

Well not really, because there would be more and more walkers until they are out of ammo. They were doing fine until the walkers started piling up in one spot.

Great episode. Hershel is a hero. Risks his life taking care of deadly sick people then handles a bunch of walkers by himself while only on one leg? For all the Ricks, Daryls, Tyreeses and Michonnes, an old one-legged man is the biggest badass on the show. #teamhershel all the way.

Looks like there might be a Governor-centric episode next one, followed by his likely attack on the prison, which they definitely won't be able to hold off now with the fence in ruins and so many sick people.

Losing interest in this show very quickly.

I groaned out loud that they bought the Governer back. Seriously is this the only story line available

It was actually part of the storyline of the comics if you have read them... I guess not.

No I havnt. I have heard they are good.
I am just over the prison. It just seems such a small storyline.

It's gone from a global issue. To 5 people fighting the flu

Which is exactly my point. They did little to thin the heard at the fence and then seemed shocked when they started to push the thing down

Rick and Carl took care of the ones that came through and seemed to have plenty of ammo to spare once they finished. All the noise didnt seem to attract any more than the ones that were already there.

Their's huge plot holes in every single episode, the writing is terrible.

Yes. A horde of 30 zombies against the reinforced and seemingly fixed fence is a much bigger problem than a ten or twenty thousand hearing and making their way over. We saw how well that worked out for them at the farm.

Guessing the Governor fed those rats to the zombies which spread the flu?

I'm pretty sure it was the Governor feeding the rats, but it might be a long bow to draw that he also caused the flu. I think that was just nature and the result of people being in a built up area.

I just finished season 1. I enjoy it so far but tell me it gets better.

Season two is a bit dull at points (although the tensions between Shane and Rick are intense), but season three is good and season four has (so far) been very enjoyable.

Then you've missed the point of the comics and the show. It's always been about individual people and the way the bigger problem affects smaller groups.

Which is exactly why I said they could jimmy up some suppressors for the M4s which essentially eliminates the "gunfire attracts more zombies" scenario. They have done this plenty of times before (see pics below). The incident at the farm is exactly why they were stupid to let the zombies build up at the fence too btw. Doesnt matter how strong the barrier appears to be, you throw enough body weight behind it and its gonna collapse

its not like they are on a quest to rid the planet of these Zombies,
its about theire struggle and adaption as people and a group in the post Zombie world

They were thinning out the walkers every day as seen in the first two episodes. The reason they broke the fence the first time was because so many gathered in one spot as someone was feeding them the rats. The second time was because they hadn't been thinning them out enough as they were dealing with the flu.

Suppressors don't completely get rid of noise anyway. They use the M4s and they will run out of ammo quite soon as the walkers just keep coming, then when the fence eventually breaks they have to fight a horde with knives.

You have to just turn your brain off to watch this if you want to enjoy it. Fighting over a shitty prison with wire fences? I mean really? Why aren't these stupid f**ks on a boat off the coast? Still I'll watch anything with zombies.
