Sterlo would have had too much integrity to get mixed up in the Storm tactics. He would probably have been man enough to confront Belly and say "hey man that is outside the spirit of the game. I don't need another boat and I don't want to give that guy a leg lock."

Cronk is as a prototype manufactured footballer, sterlo could do both game management and improvisation and was lethal with both long AND short kicking games

I don't know but I always though that Sterlo was a tad overrated.

The one thing that I remember about him is that he hardly ever got tackled with the ball.

Exactly, he game managed brilliantly in an era when you had to read the game as it unfolded. Cronk already has the game written for him when he goes out there. It is a drill.

I see Cronk as just a really, really good footballer and don't know why he gets lumped in with Smith and Slater as the big three (not as ridiculous as the Tigers big 4, but that's a discussion for another day). Both Smith and Slater will go down as the best players in their position in history IMO, and would make the top 3 of probably 95% of judges. Cronk isn't even the best half back of his generation and would probably sit 10-20th of half backs in history. There's a big 2 and Cronk isn't one of them.

Oh, and Sterlo by the length of the straight.

I rate sterlo, but if I'm selecting a team of the players that I've seen, Cronk is the first picked.

I think the mark of a truly great half is that they make the ordinary players around them look good. Cronk has done this for years.

If you want to win premierships, you want Cooper Cronk in your team.
