Horses for courses.

I personally prefer the diversity of LU. The insular opinions on Jubilee Avenue does my head in at times. But that's just me, & I can see how people would prefer Jubilee Avenue.

I've never had any trouble with the speed of LU.

No it's not.

Things are happening according the members' wishes. And it will change for the better in the coming years.

It's anarchic at times, I like that. So should you.

a bit of anarchy never hurt anyone, having said that just let me say this, jubilee ave does have its own bit of aura.

Well if we spoke to NineMsn, they might change their mind. lol

Ninemsn (MSN) pretty much shut down all chat groups and forums under their old name of MSN when they moved to their new name of "Windows LIVE".
Wiki - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MSN_Groups

I still browse both the Dragons forum and Jubilee Ave ones.

Its always fun to watch newbie posters posting breakthrough news of new signings that they got from their mate's cousin's girlfriend's neighbour's uncle. Only to be shot down by the posters of old.

Am I right in saying that the Jub Ave forum is not open to all the posters on LU?

fortae did warn us .. mind you i gather worl was being shut down and we needed to go somewhere .. the biggest problem here is the "database error" which happens all too often .. additionally, nugby has a point re trolls that makes Jubilee Avenue a must keep ..

But Jubilee Ave is fortae free now, so it isn't all bad :p

A gated community for Dragons supporters and friends. Forum members have to ask to join. Instructions are at the top of the page.

Where the hell did DAF go?? One day, bang!!! it was gone!!
The forum owner decided to shut it down. It happens occasionally. Forum owners find that it's too much work, too much hassle and costs too much money.

FTR, the LU forum owners here will never shut this place down.

Not really. It's not really up to me anyway.

At this stage, it's just a case of leave as is and see where it takes us.

The general consensus seems to be that Jubilee Avenue wants to remain autonomous. It has a different default layout (more WORL-ish), and no avatars, sig files unless the user chooses to see them.

So Jubilee Avenue is unique.

Making it look and feel like the old forum took a lot of effort. Coby did a great job and tried to please everyone. Getting all the posts and member profiles over from the old set up was a mammoth task. It often involved looking after individual requests. You may remember when the Jubilee Ave forum was first set up as a lifeboat for WORL members - that was years ago. At the time there were concerns that NineMsn might pull the plug, but no one was sure about if or when. So yeah, it took hours, then days, then months, then years before the transfer was complete.

FTR, I read as far back as 2002 that NineMsn were not going to continue with their forums pass 2008, but I never considered it to be a totally reliable source. As it turned out, it was spot on. Could have been a coincidence. Nevertheless, it was enough for LU to move away from a NineMsn format (LWOS) and set up on our servers in 2003.

That's the good thing about this. We members, mods and admin are in total control of this site. No one 'upstairs' can decide to pull the plug. The site is run by league supporters, not a faceless corporation. Sure, there is a loose heirarchy and site owners that make decisions - but essentially, everyone is free to voice their opinion and have a say it how it's run.

This thread is an indication of that.

I understand how hard it would have been to incorporate the Ninesmn forum into this site and you guys did a great job.

I just think the current situation is a bit of a bummer, and yeah I personally don't like it.

However it makes sense to give it a football season to see how it develops naturally.

It's one of those things where it has to evolve. Personally I'd like to see the whole forum called Jubilee Avenue under one roof. But I don't know how it will develop, nor do I want to try and force anything.

We've been pretty patient in waiting for the day that the majority of Saints supporters can be on the one forums. This might be as close as it gets. Still, as you say, we'll see what happens.

I have to say, a little bit of a turnaround for you Dennis. Didn't you once voice concerns that too many forums were being swallowed up by the ginormous LU gillamonster? I assumed you were joking.

Yeah I was joking.

I had a conspiracy theory that LU was somehow responsible for the downfall of Rleague given the mass Rleague to League Unlimited exodus that occurred. Then the upstart DAF disapears and we had a similar influx of refugees here. Now finally the biggest of them all Jubilee Ave gets the plug pulled on it and who's ready waiting with open arms to absorb it? Willow and League Unlimted....

I think this leaves the St George E-Group as the equivalent of the forgotten Japanese soldiers fighting on some Pacific Island long after the war was lost.

You thought for a second I might have been series?

No, didn't have me fooled for one second. lol

Believe it or not, there was one dude (a disgruntled Manly nutter) who tried to start a rumour that I was the one who phoned 2GB to get rleague shut down. This is despite the dozen or so Easts fans queueing up to claim responsibility.
