If confirmed, Cowboys gone, Queensland hurt, but to be fair they'd have to have a few more go down before they's at the equivalent of Pearce, Reynolds (x2), Maloney et al

Hey, there's nothing wrong with Maloney!

Qld spine still shits on NSW. Only way NSW could beat them is if we traded Pearce for Cronk. He puts a handbrake on their attack. Cronk ignites ours.

and there's still Slater, DCE, Taylor, Norman etc who'd likely walk into the NSW team, and TBH I think Slater will be fullback for Queensland

Smith's the one that's the most irreplaceable

I reckon Norman would look pretty good in that spine

Qld should give him a crack

No there isn't, and he'd be in the discussion to replace Thurstone if he was a Queenslander - was just naming them all-ish

And there are still calls to replace Maloney, and put Pearce in the NSW side!

Yep, Qld has 8 options better than anyone NSW have other than Maloney (I rate him the 3rd best "half" in the game behind Thurston and Cronk, though I'm a bit biased...), and some NSW "voices" want to get rid of the only half that can match it with 8 or so Qlders...

Thurston is a loss for Qld, as no replacement will be as good as him, but every replacement option they have is better than NSW's first choice. They would have to lose Smith, Slater, Cronk, and Thurston before I give NSW much hope.

Even then McCullough and Granville are better than any NSW hooker, Boyd is the next best fullback after Slater (and they have Inglis and Munster injured who are also probably the next best fullbacks), and Milford, Hunt, Taylor, DCE, Morgan and Norman as halves.

I don't normally wish injury on anyone, but if QLD can just have a "development camp" and lose two plane's full of spine players in a freak accident, then Origin could be real exciting this year....

From memory thurston has not missed an origin for 10 years, is that correct? He is their lucky charm, has pulled them out of the poo innumerable times. No jt and queensland greg is going to kill them i think ( hope )! And the cowgirls are not a hope in hell without him

Pearce would counteract the thurston missing effect

The entire qld spine and the vast majority of the team has had the most charmed injury run of all time

Take JT out of any team and it is a big loss. Smith can kick goals, there are options for HB/FE. But none are in the league of JT. Probably evens the back lines a bit. For the cows, that could be season gone though. Morgan looks out of form to me.

For SOO - Milf, Hunt are pretty soft in D. DCE's while in form, is still not at the form level that won him a premiership. How's Cronk? He went off injured last night too.

I'm a cowboys fan and at the moment I'd pick Chris Sandow in the halves before I'd pick Morgan

You would have to think Milf and Cronk will be the pairing. It works too well. You have the ball running line breaker and the controlling, disciplined half
