Tigers Leaving Concord?

This isn't about the bird or the cat, this is about where the training ground should be located. The heartland of both is the inner west, so that's where they should train.

Doing one thing over another for no other reason than history is the worst reason to do anything. Im not saying history should have no bearing, but when the only reason you do something is nostalgia, it is rarely the best option.

The Tigpies have to make this decision based on the option that produces the best outcomes; in this case, probably moving South-West (Liverpool-ish).

Got me bemused how everyones so concerned about where they f**king train

Not everyone. Just the same morons that want to cry about anything the club does and paint it in terms that they can relate too - Magpies vs Tigers.

100%. The amount of juniors we are leaking to Penrith because junior players and their families in Campbelltown and surrounds would rather commute the short trip to Penrith rather than train in the inner city several times per week is stupidity. It is almost as stupid as the fans who can't see the issue with it.

Got to agree, Dan. Doesn't make sense to stay in the inner west or Marsfield, if Concord becomes unavailable.

All there so called juniors we are losing that are cutting corners and taking the easy closer option...well, says it all really.

We are based where we are based....have been for years....if these guys we are losing (would love to see some stats or figures on this fantasy) really want to make it they will do anything...taking the closer easier option tells me theyre happy to cut corners, they wont make it

What's the distance from Campbelltown to Penrith by the way?

As you can see its much much much closer to Penrith from Cambo than it is to Concord....hence why there are hordes of our juniors flocking to Penrith

But according to our mate Dan, we are leaking thousands of juniors to Penrith due the "short trip":

Who Dan? Have we missed out on the next Joey yet?

C'mon mate, you know as well as I do; they are not crows or, in this case, Magpies. Also, it doesn't indicate traffic flow.

But that said, I believe the M4 extension is just a bloody excuse to leave Concord. If they need room for trucks, building equipment etc etc - isn't St Lukes Oval across the road (Queen St) from Concord Oval with a mass of open space. Sounds like a PR exercise run by Mayer to get out of Concord.

Again, who are the Top 5 Juniors they have lost to Penrith in all the years they have been training at Concord.

I agree to an extent M4E....a massive construction project like that will provide plenty of areas for truck parking, but ive no doubt we need to move, Concord is a fossil from yesteryear...we need somewhere that has new modern up to date facilities...where that is, I really dont care.
DanOz mentioned Liverpool earlier...I asked him in post #36 what is there in Liverpool by way of facilities....the silence is deafening

There are plenty of greenfields sites around Liverpool - Woodward Park (Canterbury's defunct Oasis project) or Campbelltown (there was talk of a centre of excellence for the NYC team with the UWS grounds)

What about a redevelopment at Lidcombe Oval? Traditional area for the club, direct train line to Campbelltown and links with public transport to the inner west.

Might be the go.
