Modern facilities to enable state of the art training and also attract new talent. Mayer has indicated these have been issues.

Sounds great and would hope it happens immediately.

I don't think the club will be self funding though, so someone else has to pony up the money.

Can't see it coming from Tony Abbott or the State Govt .

All there so called juniors we are losing that are cutting corners and taking the easy closer option...well, says it all really.

We are based where we are based....have been for years....if these guys we are losing (would love to see some stats or figures on this fantasy) really want to make it they will do anything...taking the closer easier option tells me theyre happy to cut corners, they wont make it

The reason I haven't bothered to answer is I think you are an idiot and it would be pointless. I also believe you will argue with anything I say so it will be a waste of my time. If you are truly interested in the answer, and I doubt you are, I suggest you contact the junior clubs in the area and ask their opinion. EDIT - Or not - educating you is not a priority for me

All these so called juniors who are travelling 55km from Campbelltown to penrith instead of 35 km from Campbelltown to concord - they might be good footballers but not the smartest

Yep. He is not here to educate us.

Obviously he is just here to make BS claims, and then run away when someone calls him on them.

Just the type of supporter the club desperately needs.

I am talking about junior footy - has more to do with the parents. Anyone that lives west understands the traffic issues, the trip to Penrith is significantly shorter. They may be kids, but the nursery is where it all starts.

Translation - I have no interest in the facts I will push my own agenda and stupidity and avoid listening to anything that contradicts my own ignorant view of the world.

But I will not argue with an idiot. What your small mind accepts does not change what is.

So by junior footy, you are talking about kids that are nowhere near the elite level anyway, so what difference does it make where the elite level trains?

Dig up stupid!

The Wests Magpies still have rep teams including U 18s S G Ball playing in the local area.

Western Suburbs Harold Matts and SG Ball sides are leaking players to Penrith. Make some enquiries. Not everyone goes on to make it, but where do you think our first graders come from? It's not rocket science...

You people come up with some of the worst arguements...

The point of choosing one area over another to train out of is not about getting players to pick your team over another (all the Sydney, regardless of their suburb, are still in Sydney). Its about appealing to groups of fans that other teams dont/cannot.

Games are going more and more towards the higher quality central stadiums. Appealing to fans is no longer about putting a game in the middle of their suburb so they cant get away from it, its about convincing them to make the trek across the city "with the team".

Teams arent going to be able to differentiate themselves with the stadiums they play out of anyore, but they can pick and choose which areas they train out of and focus their community work (this is where the games tribalism will be heading soon). Souths and Bulldogs both play out of ANZ, but they keep their history by training out of their own little suburbs (Redfern and Belmore respectively).

THIS is what the Tigers need to base their decision on. Their is already a clusterf*ck of teams in the inner-west, but there are no teams in the south-west. Campbeltown is probably to far and not dense/focused enough in one CBD area, but it still shouldnt be forgotten.

Instead, Liverpool is probably the smartest option; im lead to believe its the most densely populated area outside of the city, no other team is their yet and its in the general direction of Campbeltown (they can still easily go to the schools/carnivals down that way without much issue).

Point is, in these debates, you need to figure out and state specifically what you what to achieve THEN argue options.

I agree to an extent M4E....a massive construction project like that will provide plenty of areas for truck parking, but ive no doubt we need to move, Concord is a fossil from yesteryear...we need somewhere that has new modern up to date facilities...where that is, I really dont care.
DanOz mentioned Liverpool earlier...I asked him in post #36 what is there in Liverpool by way of facilities....the silence is deafening

If youre talking about training ficilities, thats why you lobby the local and state government. Most councils would love having an NRL team training and potentially playing trials and games out of their area.

and most councils would think a $10 million dollar high performance unit (public asset that the team would rent) is a fair deal.

I think we need something quite soon...its pretty clear state/fed govts are not pumping money into suburban football grounds/facilities anymore....existing large stadiums getting upgraded is whats happening (ANZ proposal, current SCG upgrade.)

Really?
Who..

Yes, they're not investing in suburban stadiums, but this isnt a stadium. State and local governments are still happy to invest in this kind of infrastructure because it still has a function beyond the football team. They put office blocks and restaurants in there.

And im not saying this like some crazy scheme that will never happen. These kinds of facilities are being built for other team (Souths/Panthers/AFL clubs i cant remember the name of)

This isnt a crazy idea, it just requires a CEO thats not sh*t.

Really?
Who..

Thats my bad, i meant to say in and around the inner west; giving you 5 teams within a few kms of each other.

But that isnt the important point and focusing on it makes the debate kind of pathetic.
