Tigers Leaving Concord?

Biggest sporting club in Australia - hmmm, that's it; has a magpie as it's mascot and emblem.

Biggest by what measurement?

Brand valuation shows that it is an NRL club based at the foot of the mountains (Sydney that is).

But why are you trying to compare a Melbourne AFL club to a Sydney ARL club based on an emblem?

Who cares where they are based for training purposes as long as they,
provide 1st class facilities both in doors and out,
can continue to nurture, sign and retain their juniors,
retain and/or sign the best coaching and support staff,
retain and/or sign the best best back office staff,
can continue to sign new players when required and the big one,

GET RESULTS IN COMPETITION GAMES.

Merry Christmas all and all the best for 2014 for the T I G E R S :thumb

Please name the intellectual elite on the Balmain side?

And how the hell is the tiger the 2nd most marketable mascot on the planet - what planet, f**king Mars.

When Parra tried to merge with the Tigers before the current merger, they were after one thing and that was the Tigers logo and brand name as it was regarded as the strongest brand name from a marketing point of view. Now Iam not sure how true that is today and Iam sure the Rabbits and the Dragons would disagree but it is a leading brand name in the NRL market place. Yes the Magpie is the biggest brand name in AFL, but that is not the case on the eastern sea board of Australia

super coach, you are 100% correct.

I don't know the actual figures now and I'm not sure how they are measured anyway but the Tigers always had a very good/big brand name both in NSW and Queensland. I studied all of the pros and cons regarding the merger back when and sorry magpie forever, it was the Tigers name that had to be retained.

With other mergers like Manly/Norths it was the Sea Eagle based on the stronger club at the time. With Steelers and St George well that was a no brainer. Clubs had to merge to survive and it was the Tigers that saw the benefit of merging with Wests as some thought that Penrith and Parra would merge, the Tigers needed to get a foothold into the South West corridor.

But who cares, water under the bridge, etc - this is about a new training base.

A change of board in 2 years is more likely to see Balmain go the way of the Steelers if anything - no money, unable to meet their jv commitments. I hope it doesn't happen that way, but I wouldn't miss cutting loose some of the imbecile fan base Wests inherited in the merger..

Balmain has been dead for a.decade. The Tiger lives on and always will.

Because the AFL Magpies made a go of it, unlike the league Magpies who were kicking tin cans around a paddock in Campbelltown. By the way, do you know where the AFL Magpies are based? That's right, inner city not on the edge of nowhere.

Yeah, but T G Milner is in Marsfield/Eastwood, hardly the inner west; it is bordering on the old North Sydney Bears area.

If Concord goes, it should be a greenhouse site and the Liverpool/Campbelltown area is better suited for such a development.

Who's making a go of it now? Wests Magpies or the tin kicking Balmain Tigers.

A suburb called Collingwood that is about 2km from the Melbourne CBD. If it works for this hugely successful club to be so centrally located, then Wests Tigers would do well to keep doing the same. The main leagues club is at Ashfield and the Balmain district is a bit north from there. So the training facility must be located closer to these districts than the far west.

http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_are_the_twelve_most_common_mascots

Google varies results but Tiger is in the Top 3 worldwide.
Where is your magpie there?

Seems to be a survey based in the USA. Maybe, the magpie is not native bird in America.

Which English Premier League Soccer club has a tiger as an emblem or mascot. I know Newcastle carries the Magpie.

So f**k off with your bullshit or are you tell me the Richmond Tigers have a greater presence than the Collingwood Magpies around Australia?

Liverpool is central to both and would ensure we don't let the biggest breeding ground go to rival codes and other western based teams. Common sense but I don't think that will catch on around here...
Wouldnt bother me....I go and watch them play...not train or do admin work or all the other 9-5, m-f bullshit

What is there in Liverpool currently by way of up to date modern facilities that would be suitable for an NRL team, sporting fields, gym admin etc?

Got me bemused how everyones so concerned about where they f**king train

Magpie on the shoulder of the jersey, that is still very generous to keep it lingering like a fart.
Train at Dubbo for all I care. It's still the Tigers, the colours I love.
