Timana Tahu accused of racially abusing youth

Like it's been said I'm not gonna judge him until we know the full story and find out the real truth.

But it seems that Tahu is in some sort of mental state recently. He seems to be doing silly things and getting his name tangled up in the media over all negatives. Maybe he has mental issue for all we know. One thing I know is I was expecting a big 2011 from Tahu but if stuff like this continues I think it's time for the club to part ways with him unfortunately.

I don't think that its time for the Eels to walk away from Tahu.

But he does have some issues that need to be attended to fairly quickly. If the reports are correct then his mental state and judgment is not the best. He needs help --- he doesn't need to be shunned.

But I do think that a person like Tahu would be a target for people, marginalised people, who want to make a name for themselves, or who want to get money out of him. So he could be the target of false accusations.

I would be inclined to give Tahu the benefit of the doubt.

This all stinks to high heaven.

I truly can't imagine it being true.

If it is proven there would obviously be sanctions. Equally, if true, it would be such bizarre behaviour it would warrant some psych investigation.

But there are clearly a number of people who have taken an outrageously angry position against Tahu as a result of his stance. This smacks of a political exercise against him to me.

Equally there is also obviously bad blood between that team and Tahu in light of the other incident.

Pretty sure NRL Players will strongly reconsider playing in the tournament again.

Having spoken to one of my mates that was playing from the Far North Coast - you are spot on the money.

There is more to this than what is being reported.

Old scores are being settled.

Timana will regret his stance on racism for the rest of his life & I feel sorry for him.

Some of the "supporters" in here need to look at things a bit more clearly, before being led by the nose of the media.

Now that makes more sense to me.

Funny how no complaint was made other than through the media...

Agreed. This pelican needs to call the HREOC not a newspaper. Maybe Tahu should do it for him and have the claim investigated.

I can agree with all that....

See, my view initially was, aside from Tahu needs help obviously;
isn't it strange how we only hear about this now after we have signed Kearney?
And isn't it also strange how the only people who heard this slur were from the opposing team?

It seems like an attack on Tahu for mine.

I agree , what a precious world we live in , full of PC , all races playing the race card when it suits , all gays playing the homophobia card when in suits, allegations , litigations , unfounded accusations. The only ones who benefit from all of this are the lawyers and the media!

I'm an ABC , and I can tell you it was part of growing up to call our chinese mates " silly chink ' etc . It's when people outside of the genre call you the derogatory terms and with malice , that I take offence.

Tahu does seem to have issues , but PLEASE , this smacks of an upstart
16 year old trying to make a name for himself against a star , and when it doesn't come off , plays the vilification card.

I hope nothing comes of this and Tahu can get back to his former glory.
Heh, ABC, can't remember the last time I was called that.
Ideally, we would all like more confirmation on the facts which occurred during the events, but I don't think any father, particularly a father of Indigenous heritage, would come out and say that an icon has gone and racially abused his kid simply because his own kid was a spoiled princess.

But then again, considering the living conditions I see everyday when I get off at Redfern station, it could be possible.

its hard to imagine he'd do it - but its also hard to imagine someone would just make it up

from the article, it looks like tahu was on the angry pills over teh weekend .... I wonder some some upstart amateurs see such an event as a chance to try and show up some big names and get into a bit of niggle???

maybe the kid was being a c***??? - and maybe tahu is realising sometimes you say a descriptive word to go with it without actually having a tremendously villifying undercurrent .... who knows?

i'd like to trust tahu - but i'm finding it increasingly difficult to be blindly supportive of the guy these days ..... i'll give him the benefit of the doubt - and I'll certainly believe even if he said it, it doesn't necessarily make you the devil
TBH, had he never made that stance against Joey's loose comments, this never would have been a big deal and I would have cared less.
But for him to take a stance like that and then to come out and say this, even if it was just a little niggle, is pretty big. Now i'm no drama queen to go and make a big deal over racism, it just that if it is indeed true, then Australia as a whole needs to look at Joey's unfortunate demise with an apologetic gesture, he definitely didn't deserve that drama if this is the person that Tahu really is.

Well I thought his ankle was too sore for anything anyway??

Obviously not.

But can I just say that Tahu has gone out to central NSW to play in a Koori league tournament when he could be sipping Pina Coladas like most other players who are holidaying in all points of the world, and instead of being proud of the bloke for contributing to the community and continuing the great work our club does, he gets bagged and called a sook!

Good on the guy. Imagine the thoughts of people on here if it was Hindy or Jarryd doing this?? fmd.

Well done T - take a bow !!

Exactly what I was thinking.....no one mentions the fact that he was participating in a tournament where Indigenous Australian players get to show their support and pride in their culture and birth-right, to me it is ridiculous how most people seem to not have mentioned this.

Whether Tahu did or dint say this in no way changes the fact that what Andrew Johns said was not acceptable
