he is virtually suggesting that every non indigenous person in this country is brought up to be a racist!

Actually it's just white people he's got a problem with - he specifically says he wants "Indigenous players and other coloured players" to boycott the game.

As though there's some kind of race war between white people and everyone else. And if there isn't, he's hoping to start one.

f**kwit. His involvement is just going to erode support for Tahu.

I'm not trying to bag out Timana here because Joey is and has always been a giant dickhead but does anyone else think he should have approached Bellamy and/or the NSW officials instead of walking out on the team?? I don't like Bellamy but I don't think he would tolerate Joey's actions.

As for Mundine, he's one of the biggest racists in our country. It's a shame he's opened his mouth and they're publishing it.

No, I reckon Timana did the right thing. He obviously thought long and hard about what action to take. And he did approach Bellamy before leaving camp - that was Bellamy and the official's chance to do the right thing to keep him there (sack Johns and make public statements about how rugby league doesn't tolerate racism). But Bellamy and the NSW officials f**ked up big time.

I'm inclined to not even watch this origin game now - I definitely don't feel like I can support the Blues given the current camp's choice to effectively support racism.

It has been stated that Tahu meet with Bellamy before deciding to leave camp.
No body here knows what was said in the meeting. It is possiable that Tahu explained what happened and Bellamy decided to a) take no action, b) said he would tell Johns to keep his comments to himself, c) told Tahu he was a sook, or d) said seeya later.
There may be a very good reason why Tahu left 1st, maybe Bellamy didn't think it was a big deal and told Tahu so and Tahu decided if he didn't have the support of the coach he didn't want to be in his side.
I'm glad it all came out in the open but it was done all arse about. the NSWRL should have taken action on johns before Tahu was even thinking of leaving camp but i would be surprised if the NSWRL even knew why Tahu left til after the fact and that is the probelm right there, As soon as Tahu was offended by the comment it should have been reported to the NSWRL (Geoff Carr) and a investigation take place. Again a total stuff up and NSW has no chance on Wednesday night now, infact it has taken the gloss of the game which with Slater v Hayne 2 was making the hype massive.
As for Mundine he has a few points but he always takes things to the extreme doesn't he.

NSW team management did their best to cover up the story yesterday and even told officials in Sydney that Tahu had left because of a hamstring complaint.
Team sources had initially suggested that Tahu had been over-sensitive and that Johns had only referred to himself as "white trash", before it emerged later in the day that he had sledged Inglis.
"NSW team management were dealing with a number of issues yesterday and were trying to get the full set of facts," NSWRL boss Geoff Carr said. "Joey gave us a full confession but didn't mention what he said."

so they tried to cover it? the whole lot of them should be sacked!

The missing part of the story is what was said between Belly & T. I don't have a problem with T walking. If there was a racist comment and the camp laughed at it (ie, condoned it) then he is right to be pissed. Worse if he aired his concerns with Belly and he was brushed.

It's a shame that Mundane got involved as the stance has lost some credibility now that he had his say.

I like Mundine. But sometimes I think he just wants his name in the papers. It was ok when he was younger but now its just a bit embarrassing - he's 35 or 36? He should act his age and try and be a bit balanced. Its a bit of a leap to call Johns an "oppressor" that gives him a power he doesn't have. On the other hand "Idiot" is a perfectly acceptable word. I also don't get why Johns referred to himself as "white trash" which is also a racist term. So dumb, so pointless... so distracting before Game 2.

I totally agree with this, and people whinge he walked out on the team. How could you be motivated to run out and play for your teammates if the above is true.

an interesting read - an interview with Tahu about his childhood published before SOO 1

http://www.smh.com.au/text/articles/2010/05/22/1273948213184.html

A few things that come to mind ...
- I am baffled how he apparently isn't upset about his parents actions - persuing partners over looking after their kid
- I couldn't agree more about his feelings about the f'n juvenile justice system rewarding dickheads while other kids who want and deserve better are given far far less .... I guess the do-gooders involved with the justice system have more sway on our goverments
- I disagree with his views about Daly ... maybe Laurie didn't have some deep seated issues which made he feel he had to talk about being indigenous??? - you can tell he's not your typical whitey .... its a bit silly of T to expect everyone to be the same as himself .... and I don't believe there is some deepseated racism thing within nswrl - thats just sh*t perpetuated by ppl like mundine who crave attention

Tahu's not at fault.

He spoke to Bellamy. If Bellamy did not take it up with NSWRL before letting Tahu go, Bellamy made the decision.

Zorba said that he had heard that now Hayne will lose the #1 jersey.

1. Gidley
2. Hayne

14. Monohagn

Johns and Bellamy have single-handedly undone all the good that was created by this game, only 5 months ago:

PROUDEST-MOMENT.jpg

Through their past record of actions, Johns and Bellamy are a pair of merkins that should no longer have roles in the game.

If Gidley starts and Hayne gets moved to wing then Hayne should walk out as well.
more like hayne would be pissed at Tahu or Johns !!!

He might then do more damage to Slater. Possible a suplex or pile driver.

Do you reckon John's help to Parra would be put on hold?

Well, I guess what would happen would be Ennis off, Gidley to 9. Hayne to 1 and Mono to 2.

Well of course that's what would happen - just like what was intended with Idris on the bench in game 1.

But if they're looking for effectiveness out of dummy half, there's a big difference between bringing a fresh Gidley off the bench, and shifting Gidley to hooker when he's just played 30 minutes of fullback. Especially since you want your fullback heavily involved in attack - Gidley shouldn't be fresh after 30 minutes of fullback.

But even moreso when Ennis comes back on, instead of Gidley going to the bench for a rest (because the defensive workrate at hooker is tiring) he'll be slotting back into fullback. How's he going to be fully effective after a stint at hooker?

Maybe when Ennis comes back on Hayne will stay at fullback with Gidley spending the rest of the game subbing with Ennis?

I guess the coaching staff only know.

What the hell for?

On a personal level there's no harm in moving to the wing - Hayne's a good winger (he's won 2 Brad Fittler Medals there).

The problem with moving Hayne to the wing is all the Blues' - with Gidley at fullback, NSW have only a fraction of their attacking potency.

But that's no reason for a player to walk out on the team.

Do you reckon John's help to Parra would be put on hold?

I wonder just how much 'help' Johns has been anyway.

Just because he was a great player (IMO the best player the game's ever seen) doesn't mean he's any good as a coach or mentor. Great players have a history of being sh*t coaches - and not just in rugby league.

If anything, Johns might give our younger halves a mental boost just by his presence - if Mortimer and Keating think Johns is improving their game then their confidence will grow which will improve their game anyway.

Kind of like a placebo.
